XP farming

I'm using the questbot - and its working well. I'm in merciless difficulty and the bot progresses a bit faster than my level increases. So now the mobs are 10 levels higher than me.

If I just want to get some XP, and not progress with quests, how do you recommend?

Change to grind bot, farm some levels, change back to quest and procede.

How are you starting and stopping the bot? every time i try it says its on the wrong part of the quest and never runs again sadly

The questbot has to either be startet from level 1, or you have to make manually instruct it what quest to start from. Read the whole QuestBot topic here.

Farming locations for each act are as follows:

Act 1 - Ledge
Act 2 - Fellshrine Ruins
Act 3 - Docks
Act 4 - Dried Lake

If at any point you feel under leveled just afk bot at one of these locations for a while to catch up. They are safe and relatively stuck free. Also the pack size tends to be pretty well off. Relatively safe with the exception of Dried Lake as the unique boss there you must be able to take to farm easily.

Simply change bot to farm mode instead of quest mode (from the top drop down option). Once you do this go to settings -> bots -> select farming bot -> select area you would like to farm and the difficulty to farm it on. There are several other setting to look at as well!
