WTB offline mode for WoW

How many other people wish that WoW had some sort of offline option? Like with D2 you had the option to play online or offline. I understand the game operates on servers hence the ability is not viable right now, but with all the crap WoW stores on our computers already is this not enough info to have basic functions while this stupid maintenance is going on? Chat, AH, raids, etc would ofc not be an option, but would questing be hard to implement? Forgive my ignorance if this is a stupid post, I have just always wondered about the option of doing something like this.

Oh i know that lol. Just killing time while in class waiting for servers to come back up, seeing what everyone else thought of this.

The problem with putting stuff onto the client (your computer) is that hackers would have a field day hacking all sorts of stuff. This is why *most* information is stored on the server.

you can do this....kinda... you need to get a server emulator or something like that and run your own pvt server on your own computer. the problem is that this would be nothing like live servers and would take a lot of time to set up and maintain yourself. your best bet is to find a good pvt server online and play that during downtime.

Yes. If you want to play wow online get one of them. Repacks are pretty easy to install but they are not really as 'fun' as retail WoW, since you are by yourself.

I may have to check out private servers just for kicks and giggles. I believe i read somewhere that HB doesn't work on private servers, not that it really matters though since i would really only play on tuesdays to fuel my addiction lol.

Yeah HB wont work on them. But a lot of them do insta 85 GM powers ect....

I'd love a second game install for some sort of offline mode. Would make things LOTS easier, making profiles and such. But yeah, never gonna happen.

Ya i know it will never happen, but doesn't hurt to dream lol. Tuesdays are my most lax day of the week, workload and classload wise, so even just flying around Org aimlessly would tickle my fancy lol

Diablo 2 had two completely separate modes if I remember correctly. You couldn't take anything offline onto battle.net simply because as stated above that puts everything into the player's hands. In the custom games or whatever they were called where you could bring offline toons together there was a very high number of hacks and people with items that were obviously hacked.

not only that, but HB wont work offline, you need meshes, and offsets so yea, thats a no go.

Create your own private server, host the server locally and play by yourself.

That's currently the only way to go about doing this.

I am aware most functions would not work. I was simply daydreaming about not staring at a maintenance screen lol. Even if the alternative was only flying around Org as stated =P

just type in WoWprivate server in google( they're free)... all you have to do is change your " set realm " address. but you would probably have to downgrade because private servers are usually alittle behind public servers
