Botters ..

Do we have an opinion about this new "utility" Blizzard introduced since 5.3 - WowBrowserPr*xy.exe.
You can find it in the "utils" subdir.

Apparently, this program is always active in the background when you start the wow client.
A Blizzard GM says it's "necessary" to play the game.

My firewall started to complain about it, since it access the internet without my consent.

Anyone with a profound opinion about this thing?

well, from my soferware developers perspective it's clear and simple:
wow uses the ingame browser for submitting tickets and accessing the FAQ since 5.3
Web runs on port 80/443
Wow Runs on a slightly different port base
i'd suspect they build in some kind of security to prevent wow.exe to access any port below/above their normal port-range so the need a roxy to access the web ;)

simple as that

Thanks for the response peeps ..
Just wondering, in the context of this "Ban section", to what extend this may be another attempt of Blizzard to exchange information about "third party programs".

after reading that, i wonder if someone could 'fix' it so i could have an addon/script, that could have access to wowhead in game.

I thought it was a trojan and killed it via task manager first time I saw it.
Had no problems playing WoW since killing the WebBrowser Process.
So it's definitely not needed to play WoW, maybe its needed to write ingame Tickets.
