Hey guys
Ok after 2 weeks of beating my head against the wall trying 2 different releases and 5 machines (3 win7 & 2 win8) and having TL2 either not load at all or lock every time I hit start I finally came upon a sequence of events that works flawlessly on all 5 machines. Granted TL2 still has issues this is just a desperate guy's workaround and success story (stumbling with style)
On the win 7 machines you have to run the Buddy Prequisites Wizard after you uninstall net 4.5 and C++, it will reinstall the correct software for you. On Win8 you cant get rid of the net framework installed but you can nuke the C++ and install what the wizard downloads for you (It wont run the install on 8 but it will download it to a folder and you can do it.
ok now reboot whatever machine and windows and run all the updates, reboot again. Ok at this point I tried this before and failed, but last night I downloaded C C Cleaner and let it check the registry, on all 5 machines there were registry errors pertaining to the old C++ and several on the windows 7 boses involving net frame, so let it scan and fix all registry issues, (please god let it make a backup for you when it asks, I needed it on 1 box)
Ok so now you should be good to go, now go into your TL2 folder and right click on tankleader.exe and then go into properties. Click on the compatibility tab, click the box to run as admin, and then tell it to run under XP service pack 3 whether your in windows 7 or 8 this is the only compat setting i can get to go (and I have tried them all)
Now be a good boy and save that and get ready for the fun.
Right click on your WOT icon and tell it to run as admin also for good measure, I do not know if thats called for but I do every time and it always works.
Now run WOT, let it check your version and tell you your up to date and click play. It will come up to the login screen asking for the user and PW DO NOT CLICK GO!!!! DO NOT LOG IN!!!!
I have tried every combination of ways to do this many times and not only is this the only one that works, it works for me every time on every machine.
Ok so go to your TL2 folder and run tankleader 2, give it the almighty key and let it login, be patient until it says have fun then launch WOT.
Ok so go to the gsrage, select a tank then go to TL2 garage tab and add the tank or 2 or 3 but to test just add one. Go to main screen and hit start, it will immediately scroll in the lower window telling you all the wonderful things it is doing, if it does not then pass your mouse over the start button, if it does not say stop or change shades of grey your still locking and then there is one other way to do this.
That means you have to start WOT and go to login screen but do not log in, Now start TL2 and when it takes the key and says enjoy hit start even though your not logged into the game. It will complain alot and when it stops hit stop. Now launch WOT rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat....
Enjoy!!
