Will changes be made to Stablize Bot Performance?

Ideally, the use of a bot it meant to assist users with their goals while they are away, however, there are several aspects of Reborn which works against that...

Examples -

1) Whenever the server dies, the bot crashes, totally becoming non-functional, and it often takes long periods of time to fix them

2) Of Late, change made to the Bot has caused very very frequent unexplained 90002 errors

3) Bot dies, whenever a new update is posted online (Reborn Updates I meant)

4) Sometimes a hotfix comes out, and the bot is again down for long periods of time. (often no patch/changes are actually required)

That and.. most of the important functionality of the bot seems to revolve around user modified plugins and stuff. This often causes alot of other issues because 1) The plugin writers are not keeping up with each botbase patch. 2) Given up on writing said code. 3)Plugins may unveal security issues because they are not checked and etc.

Are there any plans to maintain bot functionality in a case of Reborn server issues, updates etc and plans to migrate user submitted content and integrate them as core components into the bot?

1 - Surely if the game server is down, of course the bot will be non functional. If you mean when the server comes back up, then you would need to post more detailed list of your issues as I have never had to overcome this. Sometimes I have to kill the process online and relog, but it takes 2 seconds.

2 - Maybe in your instance, but again, I have never experienced this. Once again, post with a log and you might get somewhere.

3 - Of course it does... you dont expect any bot to be online and working immediately after a patch. Let alone one that has a dev team of one person!

4 - See above. While no changes may be necessary you cant tell this without combing through the code, that still takes time.

TL;DR - Be realistic with your expectations.

Ive had my key since the release of Heavensward and have had 0 errors. As for patch times, they always take a few hours and it will not change.

for your last questions, I doubt theres plans to maintain the bot for, Server issues? and Honorbuddy alone, imo, is an awesome bot. Rebornbuddy alone practically does nothing, but it wouldn't have to run off 'Modified plugins' if it just put up a store so the developers of the plugins could get paid a little for their work. I think afew honorbuddy plugins got worked into the bot at some point, why the same cant happen we dont know, it seems / sounds to, come down to money. and someone isn't willing to pay out.

Reborn is constantly reliant on the reborn server that is online, and that server has been constantly giving us errors, crashing, losing all navigations etc, inability to reset instance of reborn... The fact is, alot of the services can be made offline, thereby allowing smooth use of the services once you have successfully logged on. Sure, it may mean that you will still be unable to log onto reborn when the servers are down, but your reborn should remain functionaly when you are already authenticated into one. (also if the dev release a new reborn version. It should also not immediately force your current client to crash and burn) - NOTE that every time it crashes, it causes your botting activities to be very obvious

Regarding the 90002 errors, I am not the only ones encountering this issue. Just comb thru the forums. Unfortunately we cannot post a log for something that reborn does not log down. Something that reborn is doing is causing the servers to reject us, thus resulting in 90002 errors. What I can tell you is it only happens when reborn is active, when combat assist or combat in order bot is active. But I can most definitely tell you its caused by Reborn.

There are Patches, and there are hotfixes, sure bot break after patches, but should not be so with hotfixes or regular maintainences. Reborn is actually the only bot that tells you that it does not support a FFXIV client version. The other 2 popular bots available does not (No, this does not mean I favor any particular bots. I like each and every one for its unique features)

The open source nature of reborn has its up and down sides... Developers often abandon in progress work, and often no effort is spent to reinstate functions that players want or need, and or no effort is done to integrate them into the client.


Lastly be realistic? Heres what I can tell you about expectations. There are issues atm, and its not about Heavensward or stuff... I understand that there are not many developers on this bot, which is why its handy to integrate favorites into the core program itself. But I am posting this thread because I think more focus needs to be place on stability atm, considering that the reborn servers have been acting up and crashing at least 4 times in the last week.

With regards to the cash shop, you need to understand that not many players are for it.

In general, I think any form of shop items needs to be kept at app level prices - (99 cents - 2.99 etc) in order for any one to truly fork out money for the risks involved

I think of it this way, you buy a plugin or a profile for the time of use. you should be happy that it's supported as long as it does. Now most of the dev's here will TELL you when they no longer support a plugin, and remember these are open source. So if i pay say 4.99 for a product and it does what it is suppost to do when i buy it why would i be upset ?
As for server crashing, maybe a random dc one or two times, nothing major.
Remember this is a game, and we are all cheaters, deal with it.

I think i was reading somewhere the plugins was going more for 20-30 bucks.

And I sure don't find liking the idea of returning to your computer to find your character running non-stop into a wall because reborn crashed.

Or the fact that reborn is causing 90002 errors, which if SE is smart and depending on the causes can be traceable or that if your game client is constantly sending out action/navigation commands when you are on a 90002 error screen to not be a big giant tell

Im sorry, I remember coming across the question being asked with a poll on 2 occasions, both having 70% in favour of a shop.
Costs made by dev currently are reasonable prices considering they have to be updated every so often.
Track record for plugin support? Every plugin ive bought on honorbuddy since a few years back are still being updated as we speak.

If you buy apps, plugins, whatever, for $1-$3 you cant seriously wonder why they're not updating them.

Well the average plugin price right now is between 3-5 $ a lot better than the HB store prices ( sorry not allowed to say the 3rd party site ). Also during one of the live letter they asked about botters, they don't care as long as they don't bother the market. They are big on gil selling, so as long as you don't do it, or try they don't seem to care.

Im quoting myself because people are sidetracking and pushing their own agendas in my question to the real devs about improving the stability and reliablity of the bot when it comes to functionality, updates and server issues.

Hardly a White Knight. I gave you answers to your questions, I asked you for evidence to back up your accusations so that we may look at it and try to find the root of the problem and you provide nothing.

1) I leave my rebornbuddy bot running and connected on more than one client all day. I rarely have to restart/reconnect rebornbuddy.

Added 1.5) Sounds like you are having connection issues with rebornbuddy and 9002 errors with ffxiv servers across the board. Maybe your ISP is the culprit? Do you experience connectivity issues with anything else?

2) 9002 errors started recently for people playing ffxiv in general. I haven't gotten any but reddit and the lodestone support forum has been all about them. Main culprit people say is its an ISP issue but who knows. Given the amount of players not using a bot that get it do you really think rebornbuddy causes it? I use rebornbuddy and I have never received a 9002 error.

3) If a new update is pushed and he decides to disconnect all old version for whatever reason I guess thats mastahgs choice. Though it can be very annoying if you get dropped from the server but if I restart rebornbuddy and see an update then I go "oh okay."

4) I've never had it go down for a hotfix? The only time I've experienced rebornbuddy downtime is when there was a maintenance and a small patch downloaded. Meaning square patched the game, which requires mastahg to go through the code and make sure nothing broke or would red flag you. The same thing happens with honorbuddy and that has more devs running the team but also much more complicated bot. It sucks to not be able to use the bot for a few hours after servers come back online but it is expected.

5) Yes it can be frustrating when a lot of the plugins and extra functionality of rebornbuddy stops working and people stop supporting them. But it is what it is, the sale point of rebornbuddy is that it is Open API and meant as a community tool. Yet you have to get that those people wrote that code for free and chose to share it. At some point they may stop playing the game or not care but really you got it for free. If you are worried about the security of a plugin then either comb the code yourself or plainly don't use it. People are pretty damn quick to post if they see something fishy about a user submitted item.

Over time he has been slowly adding user created content to the bot but its an over time thing. With the launch of 3.0 he has become completely sidetracked away from that just to get the bot functional again. I imagine now he is working on getting flying to work and kupo support for the new classes. I agree that he can be a little tight lipped about his plans but he does have a "priorities" thread that he updates every once and a while.

Anyone looking at the support forums can tell that the reborn server crashes/ session disconnect / invalid session has been occurring quite often of late, and it forces users to have to monitor their bots at all periods of time.

i just started to use the rebornbuddy for about 5-6 days... i started getting session disconnects (bot stopped and the 'input key here' box popped up again) VERY frequently yesterday.
No FFXIV or Bot Update in that time... so i'm guessing it's the Reborn server too.

FYI: Tested with and without Plugins/CR.

I'm not saying my errors are the bots fault, but I have noticed a couple times while fishing that I was getting repeated 9002's only recently. Could be server related or something else, but thought I would mention it. It isn't only him having the issue, whether it's the bot or just connection issues I don't know, but it was happening in a row during a single fishing session after I stopped I didn't have any issues. So even if it's a small possibility, it's still one worth looking into.

I run several bots around the clock and don't get 9.2 or 90 errors. If your are getting these issues I suggest you look to your service provider as the cause.

Not a rebornbuddy issue. Happens on PS4 as well. Your ISP is causing the problem at one of the hops to the game server. I had the issue as well, researched for about 2 minutes, downloaded WTFast, problem went away. I guess alternatively I could have immediately come here and blamed RB and made unfounded accusations, but I actually wanted to make some effort so I ended up fixing it for myself.

Can confirm, definitely not the only one. I ONLY get disconnected when rebornbuddy is working. Its annoying b/c I cannot afk. I am getting this while fishing as well, so it's just not combat. I'm using the 1-50 fishing profile through orderbot.
