Why is called "botting" and not "cheating"?

Is it a psychological thing? If you don't called it what it is, then it's Ok?

I'm not a cheater...sorry, "botter"....so I wonder why people do it (the ones who aren't gold farming to make real money).

So I searched this site and found reasons like "WoW is too grindy anymore"......"Wow isn't fun anymore"....."I already did the content once, I don't want to do it again.."

So why are you still playing?? You pay Blizzard, then pay Honorbuddy to cheat at it?? I guess it would take an interview with a "botting" panel to understand the mentality.

its a robot playing for you. a bot for short. make a verb, now your botting!

also i don't consider it cheating. Cheating causes an unfair advantage. Well some 14 year old can play for 6+ hours a day and i can only play 1 or 2, thats a unfair advantage to him.

By botting, I'm really just catching up so I can play the game...

Because we can still play and have real lives, despite Blizzard's intentions to let us play only.

I agree sm0k3d, it's a matter of view. For many of us casual botters it's about leveling the playing field. For gold farmers it's about being entrepreneurial. They are not aiming to be the best in the game. They are aiming to make money so technically speaking that's not cheating because each party has a completely different objective and therefore it's technically not an advantage over the other. If someone else was playing the game for sole purpose of making gold to sell and they were doing it by hand then YES the bot is cheating against them in that regard.

My twisted logic.

i agree with Demondog70 here. i have done all the parts of it. using cr's to have fun the little time i could play and be equal in skills to the time i used to play by hand 16 hours a day in vanilla/tbc.
i have hard farmed gold on many accounts to earn cash to be able to feed my kid and pay my bills. its not allways easy to get a decent payed job so "botting" saved me in that period. sold off some stuff and bought keys.

if you talk abt rated arenas and bg's i agree with you. the botmakers should block all use in rated games.
