Why IronPython and not a pure C# Implementation?

I'm interested in hearing from the developers as to why IronPython was a chosen route in the development of the bot. All the scripting, seems like it's been done in C#. Does this mean the core of the bot has been written in Python?

From what I can tell this bot is written entirely in C#. There seems to be a script interface which would allow you to use Python but I can't find anywhere that it is used.
