Could just allow no autorization letting everybody to login while you're fixing it... Would be not bad.

that is a process taht is hard coded into the client and it would be kinda bad i would say yes...

nah i mean to make server to reply just TRUE to any autorization request without dealing with the database.

Well i'm not 100% how they have it running over there but the client does not need to change, it still sends its authentication request but instead of the server checking and replying with an OK. It skips the check and just replies OK.
Now look, if word got out the authentication servers were down EVERY man and his dog would be using it.
This could lead to larger problems, not only free honorbuddy but it may spark off Blizzard even more seeing 100s more bots online.

I dont think it's a problem for a few hours or a day...

i have 4 or 5 account (dont know :X) and 1 session.. if i can use them all together i will
but like Rabbit said then are too much online... the prices going down and MANY other problems..

does any1 kno how much time remains?

If they turn off authorization or make them all just display true, then how will they be able to test against the live servers to see if the issue is resolved?

If the server isnt working they cant make it reply TRUE

When it's ready to be tested it would be turned on. It's clear they are not testing it everymillisecond atm.

i think a huge problem is, that with mop, a lot of old botters restart to bot again. also the fact that pirox is down, and there are not many if any "good" public bots out. next point,.... half a year ago, navigation was hb client sided, now all is serversided.
much much much more load to handle for auth servers now.

Have you ever had to troubleshoot an outage involving multiple servers, load-balancers, and databases? There can be a lot of complexity to it, so I would trust the judgement of the people who installed/developed it.

+1 this is an excellent idea.....little patch on hb and let's go......
but it's a dream....better to let us in shit

Ive worked at ISP's who do this exact thing when their authentication servers are having issues, just a temporary fix but it keeps the paying customers happy... did you get that last part? And its done quietly, you dont announce it to the world, you just do it and the login problems are solved and no one is the wiser. So you will not get thousands of unpaying users using HB, its just the people who regularly use it can login without issue. And on a side note, i thought we were promised these issues would magically be solved on monday? Monday has come and gone, and the auth servers are still having problems? Id suggest doing what the thread auth suggests to make your customers happy. I recently bought Diablo 3 and am wanting to get demon buddy, but after all the issues im having with HB theres no way in hell im forking over any more money if im going to have the same experience. Just a suggestion, you should do whatever you can to make your customers happy, were happy if HB works, turn the damned auth servers off ffs

Genius. This needs to be read by any and all admins involved in the keeping of the auth servers.

+1 ... so simple

Comparing an application like HB to an ISP is apples to oranges. To connect to an ISP, there is physical equipment needed, and there is a lot less at risk to not being authorized. Anyone can download HB, so if there is no authorization, then the actual servers that control the bot will likely get overwhelmed with non-paying customers and people who spin up as many instances as they want without concern for how it affects the server.

stupid idea. nuf said. Don't complain about something you have no idea what it involves. for all you know the auth servers could handle other services aswell other than authentication.

Yeah, I had a bank that did the same thing. Every weekend and holiday, my ATM card wouldn't work. It left us stranded in a big city at night on the holiday one time.... I threatened to close my bank account unless they fixed it. The bank looked into the matter then, and discovered that there's a setting that's on by default, that was turned off for my account for some reason - 'if the servers are down and I'm trying to withdraw money, allow $100 withdrawal.' This allowed them to have some downtime, without impacting the customers quite as badly.

They flipped that switch on my account, and things started working smoothly again.

Obviously something like this would be nice for HonorBuddy. 'If you can't reach the auth servers for some reason, allow logon, but only for an hour at a time.' 'Recheck at the end of the hour.' If the servers are continually down, we wouldn't be impacted. Once the servers came back up, you'd catch the people who didn't actually have an HonorBuddy account.

I really like this idea, a lot. Honestly think something like this, or what tmask2 said, should be implemented asap.
