Hire the buddy guys, and make botting a legitimate way to play the game. A quick google search will show tons of other games are adding afk modes and/or botting built into the game but with restrictions. Rosh online for example was one that i saw that allows 6 hours of botting per account per day using their in-game bot. I think this would benefit blizzard more than this cat and mouse game they have been playing for years. If some of the player base is completely opposed to the idea have separate servers for botters and people that are not against botting and one without the feature available similar to pvp/pve servers in wow.
-The auction houses would always be stocked.
-It would reduce the "lag and server instability problems" they always say bots cause (which is probably bullshit but they say it anyway).
-They would have to spend less money on legal teams to fight companies like Bossland.
-People that don't bot for fear of losing their hard earned characters and items would probably take it up and purchase additional copies of the game to fund their main characters.
-The Bossland guys could help develop the in-game bot and help them keep out other 3rd party programs and cheats by having some of the best in the biz on their team.
-It would most likely put a lot of the gold selling sites and spammers out of business.
This list could go on but I don't want to make this a TLDR post. I can't tell you how many of my friends I played WoW with quit the game because of the new dailies and the tedium of the rep grind. I stopped playing D3 myself for a few months before starting up Demonbuddy because i played for hours never getting anything and it was very discouraging, even more so when i saw friends getting 100+ million gold items and getting geared up and i was sitting at barely 3 million that was mainly from gold drops and selling crap items to vendor.
What do you guy's think? What would be so negative with a controlled bot with proper limits and restrictions? The bottom line is people are going to bot no matter what. This banwave is only going to have us coming back full force when DB is back online. I think blizzard should at least toss the idea around it's not like making a poll on the official battle.net forums would cause a mass exodus of all the players opposed to the idea.
