Why do my Trinity settings change when I'm on a different character?

I noticed recently that my Trinity settings aren't "global" in the sense that the settings will remain the same no matter what.

For example, when I'm on my Wizard and adjust the Trinity settings and then save those settings --- those settings will not apply at all when I switch over to a Witch Doctor or DH etc.

I understand the convenience of having separate Trinity settings for each class but I was just curious if there was a way to prevent this as well?
