When Did You First Start Botting

When did you start to bot? and a question about pancakes.

Based on the other thread where some people aren't familiar with how to raid or do something based on HB being down, I am curious as to how many of you started playing wow with a bot vs people who played the game for years before botting.

Personally for me, I played and raided since 2.4 and just got sick of the game in its current state, botting is much more fun because the challenge is in getting the bot to do what I want instead of me trying to slay fake dragons.

I bought the game the same year blizzard released it. Back then i was doing all stuff by myself: Farming, Raiding; pvp +++.
But i got tired of all the farming for mats and rep ++.
So i 2010 i found aout about honorbuddy, i bought it and liked it right away and since then i have never farmed by myself.

So to sum up, the farming and playing long hours just to get me some gold. I got sick of it.

Since 2006 a few weeks after the realm came online that I'm still on (and still in the same guild too).
I levelled all my chars by hand (and I have about 15).

I bot to skip the boring parts, and those things I CBA to do (I hate healing for example, but I perform the role with Lazyraider).
I bot since Glider days and have used a few bots on my account when one or another went down.
Also tested a fair share of bots that never even seen the light of day (or just a few weeks before they were abandoned again).

Still playing and having fun with the whole family (Wife, Daughter and Son also play).
Few more and we can family raid ^^

Wow some of you guys are old timers at it lol. I was always afraid to do it, I never made gold the first 3 years I played this game.. because I will NOT farm or grind by hand, there is absolutely no point in doing it that way.

I find with botting and having the bot do that for me, I can still raid by hand or pvp by hand and the game is slowly opening back up for me (maybe having the easy gold is part of it

Started Botting towards the end of Vanilla or Beginning of BC, cant remember, The only bot I ever used before HB was Glider from its release to its death ( ).


Unless you count EasyUO back from my UO days...Damn I miss that game

I had always failed at leveling because I had no patience, thats why i started botting.

Started playing the game on a hacked beta before the actual launch. Been playing since (with a year long stop about 2 years ago). I started botting almost as soon as it was possible.

Started with a script bot called "Power... something...", Glider (was in Mercury's guild on Medivh), ISX (Openbot), Gatherbuddy, Honorbuddy. Used a few others I'm sure but can't remember at the moment.

Used other gathering and fishing bots too over the years.

Pretty much been botting forever

7 years by doing everything on hand and i bought HB, and now my life is so much nicer!

Bought the game back in 2008 (I believe). Leveled my first toon to the 70 cap at the time, I hated Leveling with a passion and thought there had to be a way around it.

Bot Order:

1) Glider
2) Pirox
3) HB (Liking this the most so far)

I have never been banned for the 2 years of (on and off) botting, hope to keep it that way.
I only bot 8 - 12 hours a day and have full remote access of my computer through my phone so I handle whispers / reports manually.

Bought wow on release, Started pre-glider with scholomance bot, damn was that shit sexy, 500g per night in classic days.

Then glider, lazybot, pirox and Hb. A few others not worth mentioning were still in line.
