What version of .NET framework for gatherbuddy?

OK, so i have recently had alot of problems with .Net framework (0xc0000135) and now i have used a cleaner to remove all traces of .Net framework. After doing so i re-installed the latest version (.NET Framework v4.0) and i now get the error "Unable to find a version of the runtime to run this application." which is a initialization error for .NET framework. From what i understand i am using the wrong version of .NET framework, but i have really no idea so i could really use some help.
