Hi ,

Looking to upgrade my pc.

Im playing with this atm :

Motherboard : Asus M3a

Processor AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4800+, 2500 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)

Adapter Description ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series

Adapter RAM 512.00 MB (536,870,912 bytes)

Resolution 1920 x 1080 x 59 hertz

4 gb of memory, got another 2 here to stick in. Seems like my motherboard has problems with 6 somehow.

My question : is wow more gpu or cpu depending.

playing 25 man raids atm below 10 fps and it fecks me up now, time to upgrade.

Dont suggest 500 euro upgrades since i dont have the money for that.

Looking to spend a 250 euro's on it, im sure i can find decent upgrades for that.

Just dont know what to choose or upgrade in the first place.

thanks in advance

I have a similar build in my old PC, although I use an Ati Radeon 4800 series Graphics card in it
Still runs like a charm :) I use it when I'm at my bf's place

Don't know if WoW is more GPU or CPU dependant though, hope someone else can answer you on that one..

Well my wow uses 80 % + of processor 99 % of the time, and after looking that up, its more then normal.

A lot of people have that, and you can clear cache, do other things etc etc, and then its less for a while but

gets up to using most of it again and again, so after reading a lot of posts, i got clear with it. that this has to be normal

So i think, upgrading to a quadcore would do more then upgrading graphics card.

still i think, uupgrading both should be do-able aswell for 250 euros since a nice 1 gb graphics card costs about 100.

im sure i can get a mobo with a decent quadcore aswell for 150 ?

if someone knows more about the heavy cpu usage. and how to prevent it somehow, its highly appreciated.

Here's what I got when I bought my old pc, so you can compare
It runs WoW/Raids just fine and I use addons such as ElvUI so my FPS is pretty smooth and constant.

Sapphire RADEON HD 4870 - Grafische adapter - Radeon HD 4870 - PCI Express 2.0 x16 - 512 MB GDDR5 - Digitale Visuele Interface (
Processor - 1 x Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 / 2.4 GHz ( 1066 MHz ) - LGA775 Socket - L2 8 MB ( 2 x 4MB (4MB per core-paar) ) - doos
ASUS P5Q SE - Moederbord - ATX - iP45 - LGA775 Socket - UDMA133, Serial ATA-300 - Gigabit Ethernet -
Kingston ValueRAM - Geheugen - 4 GB ( 2 x 2 GB ) - DIMM 240-pins - DDR2 - 800 MHz / PC2-6400 - CL5 - 1.8 V
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro PWM- Koeler voor processor - ( Socket 775 ) - koper
Product : Antec EarthWatts 650 - Voeding ( intern ) - ATX12V 2.2 - 100-240 Volt wisselstroom V - 650 Watt - actieve PFC - Europa

The Q6600 processor costed 178 euros, and this was an order from 2009 so they're alot cheaper now :)
I suggest you go with a quadcore, you won't regret it. :)

for GPU's Sapphire is my personal favorite brand for future reference :) I actually just bought a 7850 for my other computer, low power usage, quite, and doesn't get hot. Also pretty good price wise, but preformance the 7870 or 79xx blows it out of the water

Same, I've used Sapphire in both pc's that I've built the past 3 years
I bought a Sapphire Radeon 5900 series for my current pc though, but I can't say I'm 100% happy with it because it glitches out the first time I start up my computer.
Weird thing is that once I reboot it the glitching is gone.. Not sure if it's the drivers or the GPU..

anyone some more thoughts on this?

Like to buy some upgrades this weekend :)

thanks all in advance for help given :)
