What is the best way to make gold (safely)?

I have been using HB for awhile now and I started out just doing mining/herb but that only got me about 1k every couple of days or so. (Only bot for about 4 hrs a day to keep my account safe)
Then I saw the pet profiles which will get pets that sell for ~4k ea so I started doing that. I got about 1 pet every other day @ 4 hrs a day. However, the pets aren't selling as quickly as I would like on my server. Sometimes it takes 4 days or so for one pet to sell. Making my daily income still only ~1k a day, which is horrible.
So here I am asking what you guys suggest is the best way to make gold *safely*. Which means only botting 4 hrs a day or so.
If you suggest pet farming or whatever, please provide a link to the profile used for said item.

compare the prices of ore to the prices of enchanting mats like greater celestial essence and hypnotic dust. a lot of times, i see 50+ stacks of elementium ore going for 15-17g/stack. this is easy money if you turn it all into gems w/ prospecting and then craft rings/necks/fist weapons (carn spikes) and disenchant it all. aka shuffle. take advantage of the low prices, and remember that in this economy you should consider spending money to make money rather then risk botting nearly 24/7 to make some change.

I only have one character so far, and he's Mining/Herb. So if I make another character, I can do this if I learn what exactly? Jewelcrafting and Enchanting?

yup. just google around for "wow ore shuffle", there is even a post around here somewhere for it. the combo of jc/enchanting allows you to flip ore into things worth disenchanting that sell for more then the ore itself. though the payout is usually better, on some servers there is still a small but worthy profit to be made. on my server, you can usually double+ your investment depending on how lucky you are and how cheap your ore is. you can also try to flip inferno rubies. check wowuction.com for info on your servers professions. try utilizing inscription with the cheap whiptail and start selling glyphs for everyone rolling alts. also consider stocking up on these for the release of mop. check out the mysterious fortune card prices.. some people report decent gold selling those. spend to make and try to tap into as many markets as you can rather then milking just 1 thing. youll find a routine that works for you eventually.
