Is it my CPU?

Currently running with:
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz
6GB Ram
Brand new Geforce GTX 660

I tried to run 3 bots and each only get like 10 FPS. I have it configured in Isboxer so that each should be running at 30fps
I can run 2 bots and they both run around 20 FPS.

I have edited the D3prefs.txt and it helped a little bit.

I feel that I should be able to run 3 at good fps but its just not happening.

When I run 3, I'm using 4 GB of RAM and like 90%+ CPU usage.

So I am guessing the CPU is holding me back correct?
 
If your CPU is the only thing maxed out, then yes. Your best bet is to overclock it, I have had my Q6600 (Stock 2.4 so I assume that's what you have) running at 3.6 for .... shit probably 4-5 years now on air with 0 issues of any kind. I barely had to touch the voltage on the core or dram to get there either. I still use that q6600 as a media box every day with 0 issues. I know if you have an H80 or other water cooling, or even really good air cooling, playing around with the voltage a bit more you should be able to push a solid 3.8 wiithout issue as well. But even 2.4-> 3.4 will give you huge gains.
 
I have no clue how to overclock. I really want a new CPU but I would have to get a whole new mobo because the current one is socket 775 :(
 
You would need a new mobo/cpu/ram. It's a hell of a lot easier to learn how to overclock. Get a free program, CPU-Z, it will tell you your Motherboard model, you can google, "How to overlock 'moboname' q6600" and it will likely have a lots of results.

The VERY VERY VERY basic of it is. You push delete right when you start booting up to get into BIOS, then you would pick whatever menu overclocking is under - a common one is 'MB Intellegent Tweaker' once youre in that option in the BIOS, you would find the CPU Frequency (For your CPU it is default of 266) and you set it to manual, and crank that number up. It gets 'multiplied' The muliplier for a q6600 is 9x by default (266x9 = 2394mghz, 2.4ghz = stock speed) So you would basically find that 266 number and make it something like 350 to start, save the settings and reboot. 350x9 is just over 3.1ghz, not a HUGE increase but a good start. Then you kind of tweak from there, maybe it wont boot right away on those settings, you might have to change things like: SPD (System memory multiplier), Core Voltage, DRAM voltage, usually the higher overclock you do, the higher you need to turn up voltage - but with a small overclock, it is often not needed at all - you can read all about safe voltages if you google overclocking voltages q6600. It really is NOT hard to overclock, reboot, hit delete, change some numbers, reboot again, hope it stays stable, reboot and adjust until it does.

Please dont just read this, and go try to overclock, but this should be enough info that if you skim through a proper guide, you will have no issues OCing.

Alright, I just went to check my old pc running 2 d3's with modified d3prefs. CPU is Q6600 OCed to 3.0, 4gb ram. CPU load is averaging at 55%, ram at 80%, meaning I could probably run one more bot before the ram caps out, and possibly one more before the cpu spikes to 100%. In your case, I'd either be happy with running 3, or else you will need some new parts for your PC.
 
I guess the other thing to be mentioned here, on top of your PC things, is make sure you followed the guide somewhere on here (I dont have a link handy) to the D3prefs.ini file changes, you can really reduce CPU and ram load by adjusting all that stuff to as low as it can get.
 
Id say its the ram, one of my rigs runs the q6600 stock, 8gb ram, and hd 4870 and runs 4 just fine.
 
With the money you're going to spend upgrading your components, you might as well upgrade the computer as a whole. If you built the PC with the core 2, it's time to fully upgrade. You're going to find issues with your components when you frankenstein too much over to your new components.
 
I noticed an increase in CPU usage after upgrading to new Db and/or Trinity. :(
Still running 3 bots (planning to buy another 1) fine on my old pc (without overclocking):

TripleCore AMD Phenom II X3 Black Edition 720, 2800 MHz
6 GB Ram (DDR2)
Radeon HD 4800
 
well my old q6600 was nice to overclocking i turnet it for 3,7Ghz stable so all u need is good mobo with motherboard and lets hope your model of q6600 is one that u can overclock high.
