Lets say that im NOT going to sell the gold for real life money.
Just going to use gatherbot and collect lots of gold to spend on shiny things ingame.

so, what are the main things to be careful about ?
everyone knows the risk about botting ofcourse and i dont want to talk about that.
I was thinking about if i have 1000 stacks of herbs / ore, then what to do ?

can i get caught if i put to much in AH ? can they proof that i've been botting if i have loads of herbs ?

do they care if i have lets say 600k gold on my account ?

i've read that the real risk is the gold selling and if i have two WOTLK accounts doing all my business (farming / AH) and NOT selling any gold, then they cant proof that i have done anything wrong and i am very unlikely to get banned ?
unless they would get me red-handed while afk botting ?

I'm not expecting that people knows everything for a fact, just asking for some feedback and for peoples experience.
 
I've got three accounts banned this far, the reason is "We believe someome who is not allowed, is using your account". It is never 100% safe to bot. Also I bot 24/7, if you aint botting all the time, you will be safer but nothing is safe.

I would suggest you bot on another account than your main and don't play while you bot.
 
If you bot, there is ALWAYS a chance you will get banned.

If you want a guaranteed way of not getting banned - don't bot.
 
First and formost thing is, if you cant afford to loose the account then you can't afford to bot.

Flooding the auctionhouse with allot of stuff can get you banned for exploiting the econemy, I have known people that were just farming, and ones that were botting that this hit. Though some have got the account back after such. It does raise a pretty big flag on your account though.

The biggest issue people come across are from player reports. Even if you are not afk botting, you do not know if a gm is standing there invisibile watching you.. Yeah they may not be, but they have the power to do so. It just helps in the effort to be there watching your bots and able to respond quickly.

If I have allot of stuff that I want to sell on the ah, I will make 1-5 ah toons to sell it with.. I do undercut my self (only by .5 gold). This keeps it looking as though it is different people selling. The most I put up per ah toon is 5 stacks at a time. I also deleate ah toons after a week of being used so the name doesn't pop up all the time as being consistant with having herbs/ore/leather on the ah.

I have another toon that sells ore/herbs to private buyers.

Guild banks I would sugjest having multiple gbanks and distribute your gold and ingame items spread throgh both them.

use brain=less possibities to get caught
 
I have kept a steady play time since the release of wow, many days i log in at 7am and don't log out till 10pm.
I don't bot 24/7 I set a goal like 400 lichbloom, collect them then move on to something else in another area.
I keep one of my mains logged and watch trade chat for people looking for items, i send them a whisper and make flask, potions or elixirs or I log in my enchanter or JC whatever they need.
Most of the time I use my mats as it shows items being used out of my personal bank and my guild bank .
I put items on the ah daily there have been times when i put up 400-600 fish a day with no problem. I don't undercut by more than 3% I also make food and put those up on the ah.
I'm not as busy as some of the other people here.
I don't server hop, maybe once a year.
When I am using HB i ask in general if anyone is selling something like borean leather scraps and that I am buying them for 15g a stack and ask they be sent cod. I always change profiles every 2-3 hours and a i pick up quest while i am in the area.
I may not do them but they are in my log just in case.
I do break from using HB and do quest for 2-3 hours as well.
So really my use of HB is minimal and I move my GB toon to different area's.
Anything I can do that looks normal.
