What does the tripwire actually do? I'm confused, sry.

Hello all mods, fellow botters and so on.
I got the "Tripwire activated" today right after my friend told me he got banned, which i thought was funny until i found out, that it's a "major" banwave. Anyway, what does the "tripwire" mean? I tried to search for it, but can't really find a simlpe answer about it, hope some of you an help me with my "issue"
