What do you look for when choosing a suitable server?

If you were to get a fresh start, with no existing gold or items stashed anywhere, what would you look for when choosing a server?

Population - How many is too many? Too few?
Prices - Most important item prices you look for?
Alliance to horde ratio - Does it matter?
etc.

Well I'd go to The Undermine Journal and answer all of those questions with reference to relative realm population.
