im new to botting and i dont know if its just slower than i expected or if i am doing somthing wrong...

i have a mage (at lvl 44 atm.. little over half way to 45, 8hours played!!!)
is it wrong of me to have it on grind bot? if its supposed to be quest bot, how do i make it work?

or is it just slow like that?
my main concern is that if i am in epl for 30 hours just to get 5 lvls , some players might come a cross me multiple times and figure me out. ill be honest i havent seen that many players (kept an eye on it while lvling my shammy on my main acc) and while the mage has gotten half a lvl i lvled my shammy from 78 (half way in) to 80 without even trying, also had breaks eating and stuff on my shammy when my mage was doing its thing...

can i speed it up? if so - how?

Have you tried downloading a new CombatClass?

exactly if you havent, yet give amplify a shot, it should help increase survivability and there fore boost your exp/h, if you havent, try upgrading your gear, sometimes raw, crit or spell power can help you do more raw damage, and that will certainly speed things up as well.

im using Amplifys cc atm and [kick]s
after chaning i died alot lett but atm i can see about 7k xp/h since last restart

also queues in this lvl are kinda slow and i dont know how the chances of being reported in pvp is?

I'm fairly new as well but Ive noticed that grinding is very slow lvling. So I've been using a questing profile and that has helped a lot. I would suggest editing the .XML and removing the quests (read through it and use some common sense and it will start making sense. hint: search/find is your friend so when u delete a quest pickup entry make sure u search for the quest turn in and delete that entry as well or you will get stuck at the npc) that's to low level to really benefit your toon in exp. I found this very easy to do.
However the downside to questing profiles is there's higher odds of getting stuck so keep check on it.
As far as other players, I had more interactions with other players grinding then I have questing. However I do run into more alliance questing it seems.

As far as pvp, I would suggest using mr auto fight in the plugins. Autofight let's you have control of your characters movement while in pvp, set a key to a instant cast and when u want to attack a player just cast the instant cast and let hb do the rest for you. if you DONT use auto fight then your charecter will run a set path and doesn't make the best decisions which can tip u off as a botter IMO. Also, I would suggest using a appropriate cc for pvp. Perhaps even dual spec. I haven't had much luck finding good pvp CC so might have to make your own or make do with what your have.
