It's based on subscription based. $40 for one year. It's better to use splashtop, however it's not optimized for the iPhone 5. I love using it when on the go with unlimited data LTE

I use TeamViewer as well, it's free and works very well. I'm able to monitor my home computer from my work computer. The Android and iPad apps for it are good also.
