A virtual private network (VPN) is a private network that interconnects remote (and often geographically separate) networks through primarily public communication infrastructures such as the Internet. VPNs provide security through tunneling protocols and security procedures [1] such as encryption. For example, a VPN could be used to securely connect the branch offices of an organization to a head office network through the public Internet. A VPN can also be used to interconnect two similar-type networks over a dissimilar middle network for example, two IPv6 networks over an IPv4 network.
tl;dr: Basically, it shows Blizzard a fake IP from somewhere else in the world.
How you can benefit from this
~Steps~
~List of VPNs~
1: Hotspot Shield (Free!)
2: HideMyIP
3: HideMyAss
4: nVPN
These are most of the VPNs that I find work.

If you get banned, you can claim that you were hacked.~Steps~
- Only use the VPN while botting.
- NEVER bot without the VPN.
- Make sure that your VPN actually effects WoW's IP. (HideMyIP only does if you pay $60 a year, not the $30 package.)
- When you get caught botting, be sure to include that you found items moved, gold missing, and your character logged out at different spots.
