VPN service? (Does it require good internet?)

I don't know much about VPN services and was wondering what it would require in internet download/upload? I got a crappy connection atm and don't want to invest money into it before i get more speed if i wouldn't be able to run it.

it all depends on the VPN service and where their servers are located, the closer the server to you, the best the connection.

I live in denmark and it should probably just be around EU. Would it require 1MB upload or could less do it? (For around 3 bots)
