Does anyone know why I can't run Vmware well? i5-2500k with 12gb ram and a Gtx460 overclocked. I can BARELY run 1 VM and that's with 3gb allocated to it. I see some people running 2gb. WTF. I have done all the optimization on it and still when i switch between windows (explorer, demonbuddy or diablo) there's graphical lag and sometimes I'll get the spinning wheel and sometimes it'll crash entirely or say "not responding". Shit is driving me insane. I can't run 1?? wtf.

I have windows gadget open and ram is always at 94% or higher when running nothing but diablo and demonbuddy and this is with 3gb of ram. when at idle, it's at something like 65%. NOTHING running!

I did notice when i bumped up the ram from 2gb to 3gb it was more fluid but even at 3gb its hitting 95% or higher in capacity. What is the reason for this?

Because 1 VM takes at LEAST 3gb ram, maybe more, if I run 2, it will shit on me. The host will lag and I can't do my normal everyday stuff with Chrome, media center, etc.

Does it sound normal that at idle it's using 65% of 3gb of ram?

Hey Tony,

Thanks, I saw that guide and did most of the stuff. infact everything except the part where you make the bat files and run diablo 3 from 1 directory. I have 2 copies of diablo, each for 2 VMs. I have the hard drive space. But if it will help the ram issue, I'll give it a shot. I didnt think that it would help the ram though considering the game is still running and using memory. Just off of a different folder. Am I mistaken in thinking this?

same problem here.
i set 3g ram for vm, but it still tells me "low on memory". but the guest task manager shows me, only 1.7g memory is used, and 1.3g free.
the .bat filelink is not about ram.

did you install it with lite version of windows ? they take lots useless services
that might help you with ram problem

mine is on 2gb and is fine

Yo i figured it out. God, took me all night. http://www.thebuddyforum.com/demonb...6-vmware-ram-issues-look-here.html#post913026

Basically you want the ram allocated to each VM SEPARATE! Not swapping like the other guide says. i'm sure it varies among systems and computers but the reason why my VM1 was bogged down and going apeshit even though CPU and graphics was fine whenever VM2 was open, is because the ram was being shared. Swapping and rewriting and crap. I had 3gb and it was better than 2gb but still not enough memory. After I changed the setting to not swap but strictly allocated to each VM, 2gb of ram is plenty. Only using 69% of ram on each VM. Running both.
Also make sure you run all your cores, not just 1 core. Right now each VM is running smooth as hell, CPU under 15-20% and ram 60-70%. Host is showing good stats too. No lag, no crashes or mem issues.

Goodluck.

yep did all the windows optimization and graphics downgrading, etc.
