VMware GFX drivers?

Just a quick question after following the VMware (how it should be done) guide.

I noticed it didn't mention anything about installing graphics drivers on VM machines, would I notice any improvement in performance if I did?
Or is it not at all required as VMware processes everything?

I think it whouldn't work without installing VMWare Tools (includes GFX drivers for VM)
