Hello.
i?m new in using VMware and have tried to follow the guide made here, but i can?t install og copy the diablo3 game.
When i get new download from blizz site and try to install, it stops with the picture "Updating setup files...." it seems like it is missing somethind, because i keeps running back and forth the progressbar,
i can?t seem to find out what 2 do, can anyone help me?
stuck the same place when i try to copy/paste the game from normal pc.

using vmware 9 and the windows 7 that is named in the guide in the forum

Are you trying to install a fresh copy on the virtual machine? If so, why?

Install it on the host (your pc) and copy the folder across via the mapped network drive (tells you how in that linked guide)

Yes i am right now,because when i tried to copy/paste from my "my pc" the same error occured.
have just run the demon wizard, but same result.
 
Ok, first thing you need to do is map the network folders

options > shared folders
-always enabled
tick map as network drive in windows guests
and add the 3 required folders (db, diablo + battle.net - this is all in the guide btw)

then create a new text file on the VM desktop, and paste the following info, and save it as a .bat (name doesn't matter)

Hi.

so far so good, now d3 is running, but when i try running the db client it flashes the window okay, but after 4-6 flashes, there comes this message.
The exception unknown software exception (0xe0434352) occured in the application at location 0x7578b760.

I tried to make a bat with the other text from the guide and run that as well, and got a lot of folders, don?t seem to do anything, probaly me who dosen?t get the guide.!?

is it because of the root c:blablalblab that is not correct? my path is D:\Diablo3 BOTTING\Demonbuddy 1.0.1162.284 should i change, or something else?

All i see is that it will not help hiding it, and that is not what i wat, i am just tired of changing the gfx settings all the time, so that is why i am setting up vmware.
 
Exarchi after running the bat and creating a .bat to launch the game C:\Diablo III\"Diablo III.exe" -launch
I get "The application encountered an unknown error"

you should not create a bat for running the d3.exe but in the shortcut add the string -launch

and please make your own thread or w8 til i have my problem solved.
 
no you cant, read the original post *the guide you followed* you cant run the .exe from the mlink of your guest. you have to use 3rd party launcher or cmd to run .exe with -launch so it doesnt try to update. go ahead and try I already have and it throws the error "cant find file" if you use .bat *or cmd* then it actually runs off of Z:\
 
oh and to hell with making mlinks just copy your DB folder to the guest machine and that error will go away

If you get the mlinks to work for demonbuddy *which i havent* it might work.
running DB off the network *running db.exe from z:* you will get the above error
running db locally with the profiles directory on Z: you will have random profile errors after db runs for a bit

I just run d3.exe right from the Z: drive with -w -launch and run DB locally from the guest. problem solved

let me get this straight, you have copied your original db folder from your host to your guest into root c:? is it working on the host? make a new copy *from the host to guest* to your desktop so i know we arent having issues with the mlink files, if you did that. run DB from the desktop folder that you just copied from your host and see what happens
have you ran the DemonBuddyWizard? maybe c++ isnt installed on your vm
 
Right now for getting it running halfway, i have got a new downloaded version from demonbody.com an installed it in C:/ root and the program can start, and find the diablo game. But when i put plugins like Giles Trinity it comes with this error. so i don?t want to run it from the host machine, because i wont be using db on there at all anyway.
hopes it makes sense, i will post the error log again, just to make sure you saw it.

bbtw. i have been running the wizzard and that is not the problem, DB is running, only problem is plugins at the moment :-)

ok, remove that plugin and see if it works, if so redownload the plugin and try it again
have you ran the DemonBuddyWizard? maybe c++ isnt installed on your vm

Second, the .cs files its calling are in I believe the leveling plugin so did you download the beta version of DB?

final download the correct version of GilesTrinity that you need and reinstall it to the plugins folder
 
Demonbuddy: 1.0 r1194 Build 285 is the one i have downloaded, guess it is not a beta, also worked earlier today on my host.

and the profile i uses is from this guy/thread

will try dl it again, and apply the plugins once more, though i did that once already.

and if i remove giles trinity it will run okay, but missing the plugin then.
 
Oh...

i think the dear Giles was tinkering with the program, i see 2 new versions tonight, and now it works. Thanks for all ya help, deeply apreciated.
