A 'vanilla' account is just WoW 'classic' without any expansion packs added to it--BC, WotLK, Cataclysm. You can frequently pick up WoW 'classic' cheaply. If you got in on the Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals right after Thanksgiving, you could get these for $US 5.
People use such accounts as gold mules for trading... pretty much knowing these accounts stand a high chance of getting banned. The loss of the $5 should be insignificant, compared to the amount of gold traded. The free 30-days subscription that comes with the WoW classic account allows for several such trades, if you plan it right (and don't get banned immediately).
You can't use a trial account for such, because they are limited in some of their interactions with the world and other players. Such as unable to trade with other players, access guild vaults, use trade chat, and such.

If you bot or sell gold, you should plan for the eventuality that you are going to get banned. Its not 'if', but 'when'. These forums are unsympathetic to people QQ'ing they lost their accounts due to either.
Even if you use a 'vanilla' account, there are ways to accidentally link the mule account to your 'main' account, and get both banned due to the one gold-selling event. This Wiki article...

...and reading through some other forum posts (search button to top right), should provide you with examples of how that happens.
Most gold sellers start small, get banned a few times, learn what to do, and what not to do along the way. Getting started in gold selling is not a cheap proposition. One of the greatest weaknesses is finding a trustworthy buyer. Even without the ban, many gold sellers get ripped off. For example, Paypal will always favor the buyer in disputes where virtual goods are involved. (Many discussions about this in the forum--Forum search to top right).
You've the additional problem that gold prices fluctuate horribly, and vary wildly based on server. You may grow your farming toons on the wrong server, or be trying to sell gold at the wrong 'time' in the server's economic cycle.
In short, you've got a lot of homework to do before you try this. Once again, if you bot or sell gold, be prepared to lose your accounts. And don't bother to QQ here if you do.
