Using the AH Excessively

Last night was my second night of farming. Which was cut short due to my laptop's system update that restarted the computer at 3am ...

Anywho, in the ~4 hours, it managed to gather half the total bags I have worth of ores/herbs. I posted all of it in stacks (or in 5s for expensive things, such as Frost Lotus and Titanium Ores) using Auctioneer's undercut option this morning at ~7am and logged off.

I logged back in, and found everything sold. ~4000g was in my mailbox waiting for me. I immediately created a guild, bought out all the tabs in the bank that I can with the gold (5 I believe; now I'm at measly <800g xD), created a bank alt for posting on AH to put my farmer anonymous, and voila. I'm set.




However, if I do this every day... wouldn't it get kind of... obvious, or am I just being paranoid//too low-time to do any damage?

If you use multiple alts to post stuff on AH, then it should be no problemo.

Like alt 1: Saronite.
Alt 2: Titanium
Alt 3: Herbs
Alt 4: Frost Lotus

Hmm... never thought about that. I guess I could do that >.>.

Also, I honestly don't care for creating another alt, leveling it up to 70 or so, and leveling up another two professions to prospect or mill the ores or herbs... Too much work and effort. Would honestly rather just sell the raw materials... I know about "limits" though, so am, at any time, going to post under 20 stacks of each specific items.

I would recomend finding buyers. The more you stay off the AH and the less your name comes up in trade chat the better. Spend a few days at peak server times finding 10-15 buyers. Then stick with them....unless the AH is at an unusually high price.

Yea I was thinking about this. I noted down the buyers of my ores (which were all one person actually >.>. Herbs were all different people, so that one's going to be harder to fine =P). If this trend continues for this "trial week", than going to directly contact him to ask if he regularly wants more.

For now though... he may just be wanting to powerlevel engineering or something, so not saying anything.

Take a look at the person posting the most stacks and always make sure you post less than them. That is safer than just sticking to a set number like 20. What if everyone else has 3-5 stacks and then here you come and post 20. Basically, just try to avoid drawing attention to yourself. ALso, give your auctions a small time limit, like 12 hours. Assuming you're undercutting the competition you should be sold out within 12 hours. But if you get undercut your 20 stacks will be sitting there for however long the auction runs.

And if there is some mysterious server-side AH detection bot, you don't want your 20 stacks sitting in there when it takes a look to see what's going on. 48 hours auctions = more chance at detection.

But assuming you use alts, and even possibly spread the loot out between multiple accounts, you should be fine selling even up to 6k a day or more.

Ive been posting 8hrs worth of farming on the AH every day for a few months, still fine.

Personally, this is how i do it :
Private buyers.
Trade channel.
Auction house.
Vendor.

I post a max of 20 stacks per mat , and the rest goes to vendor if i have any left.

I have 2 private buyers who buy out all my herbs at once. at first i used to sell them all each day, now i tend to hold off and sell every 3 days after filling up 6 tabs. I haven't put anything on the AH for over 2 months now.

10-15 Buyers, I have 3 I used to have 4
I have one who buys all my Ore, i have one who buys my herbs, I have one who buys my Titanium, and I used to have one who bought my frost lotus till the price dropped and the person wanted me to sell 500g / stack instead of 830g/ stack.. When it still sells on ah for 800+ gold..
So yea 10-15 Buyers, you would never have a chance to provide for them all
