***(NOT asking what you are selling on RMAH)***

I've been just getting into the whole buy items with gold and flip it on RMAH thing for a few days now.

I'm not all that dedicated to it and I don't have much knowledge.

But I just wanted to compare with you guys on how inefficient or efficient I am in turning gold into $$.

I'm turning roughly 1 million gold into $2.30, around there.

So..what's everyone's ratio of 1 million gold = $ ??

1 mil turns into about 4-5€, takes too much effort though so only got a couple items on RMAH.

1m = 3 euro minimum, and it becomes easy as pie. 600 euro in 2 weeks, from one account.

Nice! That's about 1m=$3.6 in term of currency I use.

I'm guessing you are sniping good items on Bids? Too hard to find good deals on buyouts unless you are spending a lot of time on the computer...at least for me, it is.

not trying to hijack your thread, but everytime I try to sell stuff on rmah an error window pops up stating that I need to link my paypal with blizzard.... which has been done several times.

anyone knows what that could be all about?

It's pretty difficult to get good items on Bid prices because the AH is so overrun with bots. I had a really good ring the other day, easily a 15mil ring that I had winning bid @ ~5mil on, and with less than a minute left someone outbid me on it. I was right there watching it, so I saw it happen and I immediately rebid to beat them. Within a second I was beat again, and by the time I could rebid the auction had ended. There's no way it was a human working that fast. I mean it was IMMEDIATELY after I placed my bid, I was outbid and the item sold.

No, I am using buyout - mostly 1d11h, or sometimes 1d10h - sometimes even down to a day without people buying it, and boom, I'm there ;-). And no, I'm gonna gonna share what I buy and sell, as it will ruin my own marked :-) Good luck.

I am really sorry for you, Likwid818, but you were owned by the bidding system, not human or bot bidder. The last bidder just rised with 30+% or more, and since only his 1st rise is known for you, the server auto-outbid you till his bidding cap.

You don't know what you're talking about. I understand how the bidding system works, and the same thing has happened to me a few times, I just chose that time as an example. If you enter a bid that does not beat the other persons "Max bid" it will tell you immediately and return your gold. If you enter a bid that is more than their max bid, it will say the bid has been accepted, and take your gold. That's what happened. It accepted my bid, took my gold. LESS THAN A SECOND LATER, I was outbid again and the item was sold.

Read bout the D3 bidding system then. You cannot enter just more than the max bid but on steps with rise of 10% each. If you enter 50% higher, your gold will be accepted no doubt - but the item price will be upped with 10% only, not with 50%, and your remaining gold will stay "stashed" in the server. If another person bid over you with 1 step of 10%, the server will check if you have enough gold to bid 1 step more, or not.

I know exactly how it works. When I placed my final bid, it was WAY MORE than what the previous bidder had set their max bid at. IT ACCEPTED MY BID, AND I WAS WINNING. The bot then entered a MAX BID that beat my MAX BID, and it outbid me. I understand exactly what happened. It was a bot.

Even if you are informed well with the system, you cant be sure your "WAY MORE" bid was higher than the previous bidder's one, since only the server knows, can you?

Ok, so let's try and be patient and explain it to likwid. Maybe someone can make up a graph to make it easier to understand.

So let's say the item was first posted for 10k gold bid in AH.
Player 1 comes and bids 2 millions.
Server takes his 2 millions, but only posts 11k bid in the AH for the item, stashing the rest.
Now you come in, all happy about finding this great imba item for 11k bid, with just 1 minute left!
Bid for 13k, all happy, already dreaming at the great time you and the imba item will have together.
But the server does not agree on your happiness. So it takes another 1.3k gold out of Player 1's 2 million and overbids you instantly, thus winning the auction, leaving you with a soft tissues in your hand, coming to a bot forum to complain about this.

It's called a P R O X Y bidding system. Also works great on eBay. Also works great on bots. AH bots were used to buyout cheap auctions not do bids.

Edit: A nice guide on how to use this bidding system. It was designed for eBay, but should work well for d3 AH/RMAH

actually... if you read what likwid is writing you will see that he is correct in his posts and that he indeed does know how the system works.

if you place a bid on an auction which is too low to be the winning bid the system tells you in a pop up window and returns your money in the completed tab.
where u can move them to stash again.

in his case he makes a new winning bid since that is what the auction house told him, aka bid accepted. (pop-up window).
which he is then imidiately outbid on and his gold is then returned to him.....

I am not saying that a bot did the outbidding however there might have been a few people watching that auction and the last second bidding is called sniping and that is also something that works well on ebay.

So a botter got beat by another botter? Your point is what exactly? You got out cheated? Get over it!

I appreciate you trying to help, but I'm not a child. Go back and read what I wrote again and maybe you will understand that I know exactly how the system works. In your terms:

Player 1 comes and bids 2 millions.
Server takes his 2 millions, but only posts 11k bid in the AH, stashing the rest.
Now I come in, finding this great imba item for 11k bid with just 1 minute left!
Bid for 13k, all happy - THIS IS THE PART YOU DONT UNDERSTAND. At this point, the auction house tells me that my BID WAS NOT ACCEPTED AND RETURNS MY GOLD TO THE COMPLETED TAB AND AT THE SAME TIME IT INCREASES THE CURRENT BID (FROM PLAYER 1'S 2 MILLIONS) to MY 13k bid, with player 1 still winning.
Seeing that Player 1 has set a high maximum bid on this item, I keep trying higher amounts until finally, I bid 2.5 million. Since my bid is more than player 1's bid, the auction house now tells me "BID ACCEPTED" - it "stashes" my 2.5 million, however it only sets the CURRENT bid at 2.1 million that it cost me to beat Player 1's maximum bid. So in order to beat me, PLAYER 1 WOULD THEN HAVE TO BID WITH A HIGHER BID THAN MY 2.5 MILLION BID.

As you can see, I know exactly how the D3 auction house bidding system works. Please, go help someone else who needs it.
