I am sorry.
I reinstalled it 9 times and it would run for about 15-30 minutes then go bonkers.
I tried everything I could different profiles, CC's and everything.

THEN I found what I think is my answer.
I turned off AVG antivirus.
Sure after a couple of hours he might crap out and need a restart but it now works.
Before he could not accept or complete a quest, he would just bounce on and off on the screen over and over.
Now I have not had one problem with him accepting and turning in quest. 63-68 and never missed one.

WHAT is AVG doing to the files? At one time I could not even log in without a crash because of corrupt files.
Reinstall and fine for a while.

All of this took place in about 6 hours of mass frustration.

Again what can an Anti virus program like this do to the files?
and from what I can find in the AVG logs....nothing not one mention of anything

Most AVs monitor memory reading/writing between programs. (It's very common for viruses to read/write memory of other programs, for malicious reasons)

Most AVs will either 'block' this from happening, or do other things to make the read/write not do what it's supposed to do. Unfortunately, there isn't much that can be done, since they usually do this from a 'lower level' than where HB/GB run. (The 'easiest' way around it, would be to drop down to kernel level to do reads/writes, but that would cause more issues than it would solve)

I can't say what it's doing, but I can recommend a solution. Just add the HB folder to the exception list, so it doesn't scan that folder, and you should be fine. I have the MS Security Essentials, and I don't have any sort of these issues. It also might be where you have the HB folder. I always put it in the root of C: (i.e. C:\HB) and never have any permission issues. You may want to also disable UAC (Google it) if you have Vista or Windows 7. I think you'll find that it's humbling to lash out and blame X, but turns out that Y is the issue. I hope this is a lesson that's learned by others here, who blame HB for issues that are the result of their configuration. I also hope that the amazing guide that was put up gets a lot of views! :) Good luck, and HAVE FUN!
