Warden (software)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Warden (also known as Warden Client) is an anti-cheating tool integrated in many Blizzard Entertainment games. While the game is running, Warden uses operating system APIs to collect information about certain software running on the user's computer[citation needed] and sends it back to Blizzard servers as hash values to be compared to those of known cheating programs or simply as a yes/no response (whether a cheat was found).[1] Some privacy advocates consider the program to be spyware.

Everyone already knows about Warden and your claim is just a Wikipedia article... you really think Blizzard is going to allow the true secrets of Warden to be public information?
Sure, the article may be accurate in some sense. But for you to outright say "this is how they detect Wow Bots" and then use this article as a basis of your claim is completely ridiculous.

I don't see the point of this post aside from sparking arguments about Warden.
Someone should close this thread before it gets to that.

Thats not how the warden works for sure :) This article is complete BS.

This whole article is as useful as saying that 'humans created a program, on planet earth, and it might help detect botters'.

And this is how they protect Wow Bots:

Bossland GmbH said:
Without a doubt, these technologies they employ can be squarely considered as "Spyware", even if its scope is limited to the game. Despite what the Terms of Service/End User Licenses may imply, it is illegal (in many countries) for game owners to monitor activities outside of the gaming processes. This doesn't mean they don't do it[SUP][1][/SUP][SUP][2][/SUP], but if they do, you may have legal recourse in your country.Tripwire is anti-spyware technology built into Bossland GmbH products to "watch the watchers". Tripwire is always active. It is constantly looking at the Game-based Spyware. Tripwire will automatically render all active sessions of a Buddy bot as invalid if it detects Game-based Spyware doing anything sneaky. Bossland GmbH can also manually activate Tripwire upon discovery of something untoward.Tripwire is one of several ways Bossland GmbH protects the value of its customer's investment in accounts.
