The time I think the "detection" took place. (Have proof)

I know for sure that the "detection" took place somewhere between 26th of April and 13th of may. I am saying this because during that time my partner came to visit me (he lives out country) and he has a very sucky computer He can't even run Honorbuddy without freezeframes and incredible lag. His computer got worse since about 1 year and he hasn't been botting for 1+ year on his own computer. He only bots (leveling up alts) when he visits me. Cause my computer can handle bots and it a lot better then his'.

Anyway. He has visited me in December 2014 and stayed untill around 10 Januari 2015. During this time I let the bot run his account, using my computer. Then he went home and visited me again at 26th April. He asked me if he could run the bot and level up his toons. So in this 1,5 week visit he has been botting up 3 characters from 90-100 and some Garrison stuff (gathering). He went home on the 6th of May. Now we all know the banhammer hit most of us at 13th of May. Which means between 26th of May and 13th of May I know for sure atleast the detection took place.

People may speculate about what happened. But I think it's pretty clear that Honorbuddy has been detected in one way or another.

Both me and my partner have been banned before. His first time was 72 hours for herb/mining in Pandaria. Mine was a instant perma ban for the same reason. I appealed and got overturned to 72 hour. We both appealed out current bans as well but got declined with an automated message.

What I found especially odd was that I had been checking the WoW website all day for the new mount that was supposed to come out 13th of May. And I swear to you, the moment I saw it in the store (which was oddly late for a mount to pop up in the store) I got banned. I was about to buy it :) Happy I didn't...

Does anyone think the mount coming so late in the store had anything to do with Blizzard wanting us botters to spend out last cash to their new shiny store mount and then "trololololol BAN!" ?

1--i think blizz is a pretty damn large company and the people who develop mounts for sale on the store might be separate than the store employees. which may be separate from the ban department, which most certainly is separate from the CS team. too many employees and i doubt they would want many people knowing the inner workings of the 'detection team'

2--your date could very well be correct for 'a detection' however, some of us have similar stories with different dates, suggesting more than one detection event

3--detection is a very vague term that covers many ideas. staff has mentioned that the actual HB software wasnt detected, but there are so many other detection methods. one for example would be tracking players movements, time online, blah, blah, blah

lets use a old spy trick we see in all the movies. broken lightbulb on the hallway floor. spy breaks glass on floor, killer steps on glass making noise. it doesnt identify the killer, but alerts the spy.

or the old tape on the liquor cabinet trick. mom and dad go out for the night leaving their 14 yo daughters alone in the house. dad is suspicious so he sticks some tape across the lower edge of the cabinet. girls invite their bff over and they sneak a drink or two. dad comes home checks the tape. BOOM doesnt identify the intruder, yet, shows the infraction. now lets say blizz has HB code and that HB code has what poker players call a Tell. blizz puts a trip, when HB does their Tell, it is logged and blizz knows someone was there, and by the exact placement of the trap suggests HB.

nowhere in the above scenarios require an active detection method. they are all passive logging that can be examined at a later date.

here is one viable theory--blizz gave 6m suspensions because they saw the intrusions, highly suspected HB, but because of their scan limitations, had to use passive detection methods. set a trap and wait, the rabbits will come to you.

How can they even know that? Assuming you're talking about HB staff and not Blizzard? (just to not be mistaken your words here).

wondering as well, since no one knows. blizzard isnt telling anything, so how do they know.

im not staff. but staff is pretty smart, they know quite a lot about their bot.

myself, i can only supply anecdotal evidence. at the time of the banwave event, i had 3 accounts running, 1 account offline.

2 of the three were dungeoneers and the third was questing in outlands. all three were botting the same amount of time, same install, same computer, same ip, same underwear. the two dungeoneers were kicked offline with a 6 month suspension. that was odd, ill explain later. but the third, which was activated a couple weeks later was spared and botted until staff kicked everyone off with tripwire.

the offline account which had a couple low level gold mules was also suspended for 6 months.

those three accounts were all activated at the same time. all three were clones of previous permabanned accounts. in fact, clones of the last 12-15 accounts. which were all previously permabanned for performing the exact same tasks.

this leads me to believe the process that led to the 6m suspension was different than the process used to permaban by last dozen accounts.

the account that was not suspended was different only in the time the account was activated. which leads me to believe, whatever process that snagged my 3 accounts was not active when last account was created.

since all 4 are on the same wow install, computer, ip, mac, playtime, im assuming none of those were used in the process. otherwise all 4 would be banned.

because it looks like you are some kind of official support figure
maybe you dont understand what it means to support something. i support those poor souls trapped in the War on Oil, but you dont see me over there handing them canteens.

It seems

wwe can bitch about this for 2 hours, but no one said there was a certain detection

It's more likely than the wildly speculative conspiracy theories being banded about by people who clearly have no experience and no idea what they are talking about when it comes to this subject.

Let's at least try to be accurate if we are going around trying to look like an authority on the subject and not over-complicate things for the purpose of mental masturbation.

the only thing i got from that was masturbation.
