I've been using DB and Trinity for well over a year now, and never seen this before. I don't know how to go through the logs or whatever, but I just came back to my computer and my gear is gone, it looks like it was probably sold off...

No sir, it's a known bug on the current build of D3.
I came back to the same terrifying view last night after about 30 minutes of farming, i was completely naked with no inventory while standing at the blacksmith (guess was trying to repair?). Just log out and back into the character and you are fine.

No problem, definitely a panic moment though when everything is gone. I logged out and saw the post on the announcement section of the login screen about it. It was also on the battle.net applications D3 homepage. Im at work right now or I would link it.
