Wrong actuily there is or at least was a competition for Mario Bros AI, but that was based on a Homebrew Super Mario Game engine Clone.
What you linked is a TAS = Tool Assisted Speedrun. this is accomplished by the emulator literally recording frame by frame what input is being pressed and saving it to a file, and lowering the output frame rate by half or even a forth or less and in effect playing the game back really slowly giving you tons of time to think about your next move. not only that but you can use save states so if you really mess up like fall down a hole if you saved the state right before you can go back to that spot, and fix your mistake. with all of this you can have a 100% Speedrun of almost any game.
