TankLeader 2: What would you like to see?

Greetings,

We're starting the design phase of TankLeader 2, followed shortly by the actual development phase. The main goal is to make a new version of TankLeader that incorporates bits and pieces of what the users would like to see in it, and that improves vastly compared to the current. We want to do it right, we've heard your concerns of the past time, and we would like your input on what you would personally like to see in the new version of TankLeader.

I'll read through this thread and keep the following list updated on what you guys have suggested. I'll also use color coding to indicate what will be in, what may be in, and what won't be in.

Features will be implemented over the course of time, even after the release of TankLeader 2, so if something that's promised will be in isn't in at launch, it'll be in later.

I'm going to go ahead and fill out the first three main features of the bot, which is the main reason we are remaking it. Your feature requests will be added to the list, and we'll see what's doable and what isn't.

Requested features:
  • Better navigation, the bot knows where obstacles are and moves around them.
  • Make your own profiles for each and every single map.
  • Plugins.

Good news, nice to know!

My wishlist:

Status detection - in fight
Bot detects it's being attacked and switches dogfight mode or something like that, starts angling the armor in the optimal way, considering enemy tank positions in line of sight. Or starts moving between shots to try and avoid bullets. Or, using the new map system, attempts to use landscape and objects as a cover.

Search and destroy - aggressive mode ON/OFF
When enemy tanks are detected on map, the bot should be able to detect them too. So using the new map system it calculates the optimal route to join the fight.

Imitated cursor
If you guys are familiar with Runescape bots, the bot client had fully imitated standalone cursor, which allowed to run it completely on background, and even multiple sessions in one bot client. This also enables random cursor movement, imitation of human behavior, as an anti-ban feature, and complex aiming. Right now the way cursor behaves in game is pretty weird, and suspicious - bot gets auto aim lock without even mouseovering the target, and when the tank turns while moving the turret follows in a laggy way.

All the features like that can be optional and custom for every tank. For example the formula for optimal angle could be pre-defined for every tank considering it's armor thikness and angles, and the user could choose whether his Lowe should try and "angle tank" enemies, or find cover when faces tier 10; and whether his Type59 should try to circle heavy tanks, or run away when facing 2+ enemies etc.

I will add more later if I have more ideas, and when I get reply what is possible and what is not :)

It would be really suspicious if you said "hi" at start of every game or something similiar lol
"SIEMA PL" would get you insta friend requests on EU.
No guys that's not what I was trying to say.. Every battle you see all that general nonsense stuff people say in chat, on EU it may be SIEMA PL, on SEA its stuff like o7 o7 o7, 5555+, I don't even know what that means.
But the but could use it to its advantage:
1) Make a user created .txt file with 30-60 different phrases or words
2) Make a dice roll every battle "to say or not to say"
3) If rolls "yes" on "to say" check, randomly pick one of the phrases from .txt file.

To make it even cooler, make 3 sections in .txt file:

Early battle (15-13 mins left)
Mid battle (13-3 mins left)
Battle ending (3-0 mins left)

Do a "gl hf" sort of phrases in early battle
Do a "need help" sort of phrases in mid
Do a "gg" sort of phrases in the end

Opportunity to aim in weak spots without using auto aim.
Opportunity to dance the casing. Opportunity to add the casing at an angle in relation to the enemy for ricochets. Opportunity to add parts of the thick armor to the enemy (that a bot wouldn't stand sideways to the enemy)

1. stop tl directly with a hot key ( when the tank is still turning etc ) and move it by hand. ( now for redshire and dragon ridge )

2. use a hotkey directly for shooting an enemy when the bot is still aiming, and waiting.

3. while tl is running you can make a direct chat to other people, while babysitting.

-For SPG, can do Tank Destroyer mode if enemy is within 100 meters
 
Sounds Great. Looking forward to the upgrade

1. Automated chat. Maybe a user could enter 3 or 4 or so phrases that get get played through a game such as, at start "GL HF" somewhere in the middle "Nice Shot", "Help" after getting shot and after getting killed "GG"
2. distance limiter. you will probably fix this with the better navigation but often my tank drives into a wall and just keeps "moving" according to the status screen but in reality the tank is stuck. Maybe limit the time for the direction of travel to be no more than 1 minute. If the grids don't change just back up.
3. I like the idea of a hot key as well so if I am babysitting I can jump in.
4. The cap should always be the goal in my thinking. I see my botted tank sometimes get 3/4 of the way to the cap and be one of 2 tanks left with only arty or something pathetic left on the enemy side and my tank turns about and heads back the way it came. LOL I would rather lose battles on the way to the cap than to turn away from easy kills and a win.
 
Autochat woud be great, Hotkey for on/off also.
It woud be fine to have a choice with tanks are not getting used by TL.
And finaly a automatic relogsystem when connection gets lost.

A more natural looking turret rotation behaviour. Not always directly look to the front.
 
Im sure its next to impossible but target leading for fast movers? the auto lock looks so bot like lol.

Would also love an early beta because TL1 is looking worse and worse each day with the lack of bug fixes

I read some times in this forum the idea of prioritizing tanks that still have their daily victory bonus ! That's a good idea, i'd love that !

Command line params, such as DB or HB to automize bot+game startup sequence without any futher user manipulations.

ADD: just got one idea - how hard to implement real time scanning surrounding environment? Idea to make some "radar" mechanics which can scan surfaces of unknow places (maps, mods). I assume what after adding physics, they may add new level of destructable environment which may lead to change battlefield map surfaces in combat.

When getting hit, tank should turn his front armor to the attacker (it looks natural) and make several steps back.

It already does that. However, right now the camera is locked to the turret at all times. We'll most likely make this an option to only happen when the tank is actually shooting at someone, do it always, or don't lock it at all in TankLeader 2.
 
1. I would like to see a posting to the game from the file (to reduce the chance ban).
2. When the tank is shot, it will turn back or drive off a diamond.
3. To troubleshoot hang tanks on the map

I'd like the 'Hotkey' - where if you press a key you can take over to get the bot out of a 'tricky' situation.
I'd also like a Custom Profile for each tank - where you can choose to set some parameters for each tank.
 
turn hull to face target and a smarter "unstuck" mode
A "scout mode" for certain tanks like the t-50-2 where its does not stop to shoot. It just runs laps around the map, weaving like it does currently but shooting on the move.
If there is any auto chat or reply system, the responses should be left blank for us to fill in. Otherwise people will turn it on and the default messages will become giveaways on who is botting.

Highly customizable profiles for different tank classes (e.g. tank destroyers, spg, etc.) much like the CCs in Honorbuddy. This would allow us to make scouts and tank destroyers behave properly, possibly. I would love for a TD to hide in cover, fire, move to different cover, fire, until someone kills it. One other problem I notice is it doesn't really have an "attack the tank with the highest threat to me" AI. Would there be a way to set it up to target the easiest to hit enemy that is targetting my tank?
 
I wish the bot tried to angle the tanks or show front instead of just stop and shot, The biggest problem of the bot is not smart enough to avoid dmg like hiding behind cover and shot and move back.
