Strange ways to get banned...

I was at home from school on break for a month, sold tons of gold on 1 of my seller accounts. And I mean 100k+

Then when I get back to school, I sell 30k on that one account, it gets banned, then I use another fresh vanilla account, sell 12k, and it gets banned. This happened all in 1 week. Could Blizz be watching my schools IP address or something? anyway around this problem?

Blizzard doesn't watch Ip's . they ban from what they get back from warden.

Well it makes no sense that I was fine at home with 100k sold in around a month, then I sell 10k here and the next day hes banned. Something is up there.

well maybe your account was being watched for while , did you log into wow out side your house ?

Well I did access both accounts from home then I did use them here. Maybe that alerted it.

Oh and i have always wondered, to the peopl who sell like 100k or so, do you bot on one account or is it like a joint effort, like 2 accounts every day etc?

I have 3 bots (4th one about to start soon), one on a different server. I farm, sell stuff at AH, make around 5-8k per day. Wait to get to a certain amount like 15k per server, then I sell to mmofly, gold4key, and thsale. I usually average around $2 per k (which I am satisfied with) but sometimes I get around $2.6-$3 per k depending on demand they have.

I try to not have more than 1 bot on the same server because I actually made too much gold and nobody would take it for a decent price since I already maxed out what they need.

Correct. Warden detects the IP changes and I guess sends up a red flag about your account.

Yet I havent had any problems with my bot accounts, just my sellers.

As I said, I was on my home IP and then switched to my school IP on the seller account which wasnt a good idea.

I will be testing this soon when I get another vanilla account to sell from. If I can sell multiple times without getting banned, then this theory is correct but if I do get banned right off the bat then something is up.

YET -> Nobody really knows how Blizz works with this banning crap these days.

Ok something is up.

I traded to the EXACT same people I traded with while I was home and I got banned here on the campus network the next day. Account didnt even last a week.

They have to be watching something.... if not the IP, gotta be something.

Again, I traded for over a month on 1 account and never got banned. I come to school, that account gets banned after 1 trade. I make a new account under the theory it wouldn't get banned if I stayed on the same IP address however, I was banned the next day.

So dont start saying they dont watch IP addresses cause they very may be watching.

depends who are you selling to
private buyers - youre very unlikely to get ever banned
resellers - now the chances rise dramatically

Ok, a couple things about the ip address issue.
One of my very good friends IRL used to be in the gummibear guild. They did many world 4-10 boss drops... anywho, they all knew each other quite well. Because of this, they all knew most of each others passwords so that they could utilize any accounts class or profession if need be. My friend's account ended up being banned due to the account being logged on to with so many different IPs.

With that said, it isn't actually the IP that blizzard generally cares about; it is the location. I have DSL internet with a dynamic IP address, so everytime i reset my modem I am given a new IP. This doesn't flag my account in general because its all hosted off of the same server. My friend's account above got the big bad ban stick because no one can teleport around the globe several times per day (not even this will result in a ban due to the possibility of using VPN, Proxy, tethered phone, etc: but then they can investigate it and verify)

So, what do we get out of this little rant? YES Blizzard DOES log IP addresses... always. Not only for banning but for their own statistical uses. My guess would be that your IP didn't result in the initial flagging of your account, but it could have caused the second ban once the schools static IP was flagged. doubtful but still possible.
