Anybody got a nice link or some personal perspective on what kinda stats you need? I am relatively new to the game.

TBH, for DH:

400-500 Res all with 40khp and 60-80k dps with sharp. Thats the minimum to make act 3 enjoyable.

Look into high res shoulders with high roll dex. Also consider building 4 pieces of Nat set (+2 disc**line generation is godly). Inna's Blessing with high roll dex and res all + inna's glorry will help.

As a demon hunter, only a smarter combat algorithm will help it fight elites. The stuff that kills you has to be avoided (mortar, etc etc)

Also it needs to kite and backtrack along the path its fought (so it doesn't pull more mobs)

A3 Barb bot would need about:
900 Res
60k HP
20k DPS

Or 1100 Res
40k HP
20k DPS

Or
900 Res
40k HP
40k DPS

I mean, you need a balanced approach. But either way you'd need at least 600-800 Life on Hit and pretty outrageous gear to bot A3. And you are stuck in a totally defensive build.

So IMO, it would be better to bot checkpoint in A1Q6P1, since that can actually be done very easy.
600 res (w/shout)
40k HP
20k DPS
400 Life on Hit

Quick and easily bottable runs, always Skeleton rarepack. Can either be done in MF gear or GF gear for extra profits.

Actually this saying is just plain wrong. With this build Demon Hunter - Game Guide - Diablo III I tanked A2 and A3 champs using my face pre 1.0.3 with only 35kish HP 250 Allres and 138k damage.

All this build would need in order to farm a specific rarepack over and over would be a small rework for 1.0.3 use and something like:
Use Shadow Power every 3 sec after engaging combat. Constant uptime for 18 sec including the natural regen.
Use Preparation After using Shadow Power
Mark 1 Enemy with Mortal Enemy.
Use Rain of Vengeance (Stampede) when 2+ Mobs in melee range.
Shoot Stuff

For A1 this would work just fine as long as you got decent gear.

Hold on. We're comparing Human play against bot play. Humans will always play smarter.

Pre 1.03 I was pushing same stats as yours and completed inferno Diablo (post ss nerf). This isn't the point. This is about efficient bot farming.

What you or I did pre-nerf is irrelevant. How much do you think it will cost to gear out a bot to achieve that? IMO if its a botting char, you'll want to spend as little, and get as much as you can out.

I do however agree that DH is not the best class to bot with though.

The stats I mention make DH somewhat more viable for A3 onwards. It is also a costly venture.

9900 armor, 950-1050 all ress, 50 k hp, 6 k dps on enchantress, 14 k dps on barb and 175 % mf from gear. did entire runs on act 1 with d3tnt bot using premade combatsystem and profiles, will try some inferno stuff with db when its back up aswell.

only 144 life on hit btw, getting hp regen from revenge and furious charge.

My point is the build, you can build a DH to faceroll A1 champs all day long with no trouble what-so-ever. You don't HAVE to use the classic displacement / vault builds there are other alternatives especially POST-PATCH where mobs are way easier you can do this in A2 with decent gear and A3 with great gear too.

for gold farming your class hardly matters.. wiz/DH are a little better for sarkoth but w/e.

For farming act 3-4 I forsee needing a lot of fire resist on top of that 1k+ resist all. I can face tank pretty much anything, but if mortars start hitting me, or mobs surround me with fire chains, I'm going down.

would not trust DH for bot farming inferno

Once the devs add the API calls we need and let us handle combat movement in the combat routines, botting act 1 will be easy mode. Kiting with backtracking so you don't pull more groups might be a bit difficult but in act 1 it wouldn't matter.

I have a warrior in act1 inferno. He has 44k Life, 600+ resist and he struggles.
I think the main thing is the shield and weapon. Not at home so this is a guess.
His shield is level 60 78 all resist and 144 vitality 8% block.

Weapons I get very confused on.
one person said get a life on hit of at least 700.
ok the problem there is the weapons are about 300-400 dps
again spending something like 300-500K only has 600-700 dps

thoughts on shield and weapons would help me a lot.

ps this is a starting bot not a group or play setup.

You need to spend more on your weapon Sparks that's all there is to it..

I think a dirt cheap 750dps wep works just fine. +block is nice for the shield

without the ability to kite on a wiz or DH, you won't survive anything on inferno for long. I haven't used a bot yet that can kite anything, so botting with those classes is pretty much out right now. I'm sure as bots advance, you'll be able to bot anything on any class successfully.

On my barb I clear inferno act 1 with little to no problem I only struggle to the red, fat guys before the Butcher and only if they're blue and have protection.
here's my stats :

69% armor mitigation
9k dmg
33k hp
1100 resist with shout (should be around 700 without)
only have a +300LoH gem in my wep
using this spec Barbarian - Game Guide - Diablo III (I can switch between the +25% armor and the 100% of vit I still have 69% mitigation)
