I just started using honorbuddy 2 days ago and decided to try it out with a WoW starter account over OpenVPN solution.

I told them how i was unable to trade due to my account being a starter account, my account got restored within 10 minutes.

I supervised honorbuddy running a quest profile 99% of the time and managed to get to level 19.

I was going to input the key today and make it a full account and this makes me not want to do it.

I am thinking it was the OpenVPN thing since i did log on and off multiple times and got different IP's from OpenVPN.

Any idea what could of triggered this?

***Notice of Account Closure***

Account Name: WOW1

Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy

This account was closed because one or more characters were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for "real-world" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy.

Even if this is the result of account sharing, the account owner can still be held responsible for the penalty because of the impact it had on the game environment.

We've found the above behavior is many times directly related to groups responsible for compromising World of Warcraft accounts; we take these issues very seriously. To better understand our position against exploitative activity and the risks involved, please review this article: Support - Battle.net Support

The exploitative activity that took place on this account violates the World of Warcraft Terms of Use. We ask you take a moment to review these terms at Blizzard Entertainment: Blizzard Legal Documentation. Note that additional Terms of Use violations may result in more severe actions against this account, up to and including permanent closure.

If you believe your account was compromised, please go to the following website https://us.battle.net/account/support/account-recovery.html. Our support staff will assist you as soon as possible. If you are unable to access your account due to the password being changed, please visit our Login Support site here: https://us.battle.net/account/support/password-reset.html

sounds lik eit.. when I was to lazy before I knew about the bot.. I paid some online Chinese place XD soon as they went on.. I logged on another acc.. and they never came on so I checked the account and I had that problem....and I checked my email.. but they said they had an log in from somewhere else in the world.. I am from scotland so if they see some weird ip miles away.. in my case china they think you got hacked.

Should I even bother using a VPN solution? I just don't want it associated with my main account in any way due to my personal paranoia.

This happened to me too when I was online on starter several hours in row just sitting or running in circles(testing my hb plugins or testing my own bot). I don't even use vpn or so. Starter accounts are under blizzard control just as normal accounts >.<

prob ban cause to many ip, but i used wow tunnel awhile back (pretty sure they do same thing) for selling my gold, i would mask my ip and sell to someone else, next day ban, hours later i got unban AND the gold restored to me. i just told them i was hacked and they 'fixed' it done it about 5 times in a month they just kept undoing the ban lol.

This is public vpn issue.
And it doesnt matter if ur account is starter or its cata. You will keep getting eco bans from time to time using IP's/IP-range that were also used by chinese black trading (gold movement using stolen vanillas) or hack cases or some dupe dudes. (issues that they take serious actions against like HW/IP bans)
And believe it or not - those ppl cover much more free/cheap vpn's than u might think of.

First appeal to this kind of ban is easy unban with a warning usually.
Code:
We appreciate there are circumstances when use of a Proxy can be beneficial,
however such services are routinely used to attempt to hide the actions of Online Trading companies and users attempting to use exploitative third party programs.
As such, we do not support the use of Proxy services and if you continue to use these, we regret that this may result in further suspensions placed on your account.
Or another one:
Code:
We can see that you are using proxies (possibly a tunneling service), and [B]your address isn't correct on your account[/B].
Please ensure your address on your account is up to date, this is part of the terms of use of battle.net which a break of terms can see your account actioned.
Also whilst we do not prohibit proxy use, we do not support them, and this is exactly the type of thing that can happen with them.
The proxies are also used by those you hack accounts / goldfarmers. Use them at the risk of recieving future [B]automated actions[/B]. This is not something we can prevent as we don't support them

For second ban appeal of this kind they will ask either partial verification (just name/cdkey) or full (document scan), even if you did no bad actions at all on that account.
Code:
Greetings , How are you? Thank you for your report about the issue with your account.
The use of proxy's is not supported by us, we told you already that this can result in further account locks, Please provide us the requested data incl. the scan of a valid ID, otherwise we will not reopen the account.

I have a good collection of their replies regarding VPN's so if you need more just send me a tell lol. These three letters are for three different accounts tho.

If you want VPN - look for dedicated-static ones only. And those cost bit more than regular dynamic ones that make you banned. Needless to say free vpn's are just pure trash.

Thanks Smix, for your reply. I completely agree with you that this is a VPN issue (after reading your post). I set up a private VPN server at one of my remote offices instead. It seems to be good so far but I understand how they would think I am trading gold on a public VPN since that's how most of the gold is traded. I ended up making another account (didn't want to be marked, once again just paranoid).

And well known OpenVPN or PrivateVPN got a max Range of IP Adresses, possible that some of the Ranges are Blacklisted by Bliz.
