Speculation on recent bans / banned (Another man's treasure)

I've been reading the reports here and it appears the majority of players banned recently were botting shortly beforehand. Do any more experienced botters have any insight on how long between last time botting and a ban will occur?

I ask because I stopped botting (gatherit doublezone 2-3 hours per day) about a week ago after the first influx of reports. Should I spend the money to transfer my main off the account? Or would the ban have happened by now? I know I know, don't bot on an account you don't expect to lose etc., but doesn't hurt to seek some prevention ahead of time if it's still at risk via the player reports!

Side note, but might as well add, as it is related, that I did have a farming account banned on Thursday running on a different IP.

1)Were you using Honorbuddy, Gatherbuddy or both on the account? GB2

2)If so, when was the last time?: Thursday the 24th around 8:00 pm EST

3)What profile were you using?: Banned running the profile for the relic hunter / another man's treasure that flies all over the continent.

4)What combat class were you using? Singular

5)What plugins are you using?: Talented, antidrown, rarekiller2

6)How many hours per day did you bot for?: 3-4

6.5)What honest percentage of time did you supervise your bot? 80-90% ( I did catch it flying into a bell in jade forest for what might have been about 5 mins max.

7)How many auctions per day did you have?: 15-20

8)Did you Use Any Other Bots, Hacks, or Mods? No

9)Was your account involved in gold selling? No

10)EU or US realm? US

11)Is the banned account a Scroll of Resurrection or an actual paid account? Paid account

I had been running a gatherit mining profile on this account as well about 2 weeks prior to the ban, but since those 2 weeks, just started up the relic hunter profile which I find unlikely that i got reported for as it does fly all over pandaria.

this is interesting. and it makes me believe that you were NOT reported.

it makes me believe that something hb is doing is triggering the bans, since everyone seems to be botting when they occur, and not getting banned while offline.

personally, in my case, i was monitoring the bot, and it seems unlikely that anyone reported me for botting, as i hadnt seen anyone anywhere near me for quite some time. the theory i had for that was that i was running pimpmyguild, and i know some people get super pissed about getting ninja invited to guilds, so i figured i got reported for that, and when they looked at me, saw my botting habits in my logs...

but if you werent running pimpmyguild, and were running a profile that pretty much just flies around and doesnt do anything else except very rarely, then it would make no sense that you got reported, and if you didnt get reported, then there must have been some other reason they targeted you.

Something is up And nobody knows. Seen these forums go Months at a time with No Bans before. Now, Every 5-6 days to Everyday there are people being banned.

No one has a clue but yet everyone claims " BOT SMART " or " We are on top of things and it is not warden or anything else "

I agree, something is not right here.
Getting ban at higher frequency no matter how less we bot.
I wish i could do some testing but have no idea where to begin from.

I am simply hesitant to start botting again.

What i am thinking is that they have detected the bot however they are not causing an instant ban ( do not flame me its my theory ).
However they are supervising the bans ( including SOME auto bans ) once the wow reports something fishy.

Regards.

If warden was able to detect anything from honorbuddy, we would see massive, and by massive I mean MASSIVE bans. We would see a pattern in bans and not just a few people getting banned, while others are botting 24/7 since 3 months without any bans whatsoever.

There are just too many botters now a days and blizzard thinks that they need a clean up IMO. I think there are more GM bans lately than before MoP, if you happen to be flying around its your time to lose.

Tough times = new possibilities..

I have been botting 12 hours a day on three different accounts for a long while now. Two are using different gatherbuddy profiles and one is using a grinding leather profile. I also use the bot on my main for the dailies and archaeology.

Most BGs I do these days, people are calling out names as bots, and working hard to report people, and to get others to report also. I did a low level dungeon the other day, and the hunter in the group was botting the dungeon. People in the group were calling him on it, the guy never replied.. No doubt some people in the party reported him. (for the record, I never have or will report a fellow buddy).

Anyway, to the point. When I first started playing (cata), no one spoke about bots, I didn't even know bots existed in the game. Now it's every 2nd or 3rd bg and even in low level dungeons. Trade chat has people spamming to sell stuff in bulk, and wanting to buy game cards for gold etc. Botting has become too mainstream and way too public, Blizzard is now forced into action. And we think that a few posts here = HB is detectable?

I'm still surprised there has been no real banwaves on EU side.

maybe blizz changed their policy about banwaves.
before 2010: 100k bans in 1 wave
now: steady bans.

blizz won't loose to many subscriptions in one time, and their ( is their spelled like this? english isn't my tongue language) monthly report looks better.

if they start a banwave... 100k bans, another 900k botters would stop to pay.

in a way.. I kinda feel like it's time to get rid of most of the bots :/
Way too many in battlegrounds.
and way too many are farming herbs/ores
messing up the AH prices..
making everything to darn cheap.
Destroying the in-game herb/ore market :(

I have never reported a bot before tho. not planing to.
but I do report, those who try to sell in-game currency for something with IRL value(and the oposite way around)

You're a walking contradiction.

You're a walking contradiction.

I know.
but it s rather annoying, when people are undercutting by 50% and posts 100 stacks per item etc.
and when 50-90% of your team in a BG are bots.

I don't mind those who don't mess up the in-game economy or the battlegrounds.
Whats the point, in getting PvP gear if you don't PvP?

What is the point to botting if you dont sell in game curency for real money?
If you like game then play by hand.

I don't understand how people are getting banned so much.
I have the same account botting herbalism and mining with a multi-zone public profile since day one of MOP I botted this account first grinding to level then right to gathering.
This account botted for an entire year.
Everything is mailed from the bot to a level one on the same account.
The level one deposits to the guild bank.
My main account withdraws the herbs and ore and sells them in the AH.
I am the GM of a guild with 214 members. 50% the guild knows my bot.
I do herb and mining for about 12 hours a day.
Sometimes When I need fish for raid feasts I set him up fishing.

Never bot PVP - Just stupid !!!!! You will be banned !!!!
Never do SOR accounts..
Never link account names, adress, phone numbers..
Don't bot on the same computer. Every character and account creates a world of warcraft-WTF- Folder with the account and characters. So blizzard knows what accounts and characters use the same install of wow.
Don't use credit card or paypal to pay for multiple accounts. Links accounts by payment.

I bot on a crap $100 Dell 1525 laptop and play wow only on my desktop with main account.
Both use same internet connection. Laptop wifi. Desktop plugged.

This is all theory. But has worked for me over 3 years. I have purchased my HB key 3 times now and never been banned !!!
First account I leveled one of all toons to max and made it my main. Never botted on it again. Not even installing Buddy on this pc ever !!
Second account is my bot only. Actually has 2 toons on it. I botted on one server. Then xfered servers and leveled a whole new toon to bot on new server.
Wasn't paying to xfer a bot after moving 6 toons on main account.

I spend tons of gold. I give all my guild mates blood spirits, darkmoon faire trinkets, Give them 100,000 gold for black market ah items every like 4-5 days when items are in there core one of our 2 core teams. I buyout lots of herbs and ore in the AH to make it look like I'm a big ah player to mast alot of my selling. I can always say I spent 80,000 in the ah and bought every herb in there from 40-65g a stack and reposted them all for 75 trying to boost market.

It's server side scripts, I believe it would be up to 30 days in which you were monitored before ban... probably less, I personally counted the days when I thought that I would get banned and it was under 15 days... I posted on forums about it too

Between November and now Honorbuddy has seen its userbase grow by ~30,000.

It seems to me like with the new expansion and the large influx of new botters we're simply seeing the ramifications of unsafe botting practices. Half the ban reports are from people saying they were using BGBuddy, which just isn't a safe unless you change up the default profiles and monitor it constantly (which you might as well just play by hand if you're going to do that). Then there's a lot of people using profiles off the forum, I see a lot of Gatherit bans.

I've used Honorbuddy for years, I level toons, I grind, I gather, I work the AH, and the most I've gotten was a 72 hour ban (which I got reversed shortly after they instituted it) and additionally I was hit in the first actual banwave.

Prior to that I started using Glider in '07, and I got hit in one actual banwave and no other bans/warnings apart from that.

The moral is if you practice safe botting your chance of being banned is drastically reduced, although the risk is always there.

The only non-questing profiles you should be using consistently are the ones you made yourself, or at the very least ones that aren't shared on a public forum. It's fine to use stuff of the forums--to look at their routes, grind spots, etc, and then make your own from it. Don't BG bot. Don't post massive amounts of auctions. Don't bot 24/7 on an account.

tl;dr large influx of new MoP guys who don't know how to bot = looks like a banwave but it's very probably not
