Would there be a way for you guys to implement a captcha for the first 50 or 25 posts? It would let moderators the hassle of deleting the threads, and make the forum a nicer place :D

Sounds like a brilliant idea, its been a while since i signed up but is there a captcha on signup?

+1
Or create a "beginners forum" for people who registred here, but dont brought HB yet.

Although there are very cheap 'captcha busters' (humans with cheap labor that type in captchas for like $2/100), implementing something like this would greatly reduce the number of spam posts. Like any mousetrap, SOME mice will manage to get through - but if without the mousetrap, more and more mice would come and become even more annoying.

so... +1 for anything along these lines.

I agree, it would be a great idea to add a captcha somewhere for the firsts posts.

I checked the security for the signup process, there're some random questions like "What was the color of the black cloud?".
Maybe a captcha would be better.

"What was the color of the black cloud?"

This is something some of our new users do not know how to answer, do you think captcha will be the solution ?

it dosnt matter, the whole thing is it would be better if we could stop them from registering, then stop them from posting, if they post its a 1 click ban, for all thier posts. but if they register and dont post, then finding the accounts is harder, one bot made 94 accounts and was cycling though them even after we banned the registration ip. so everything, that can be done is being done already, there not much more we can do.

if you see a post, report it, simple as that.

Honestly, I think it's the most advanced solution against robots.
I've searched the Captcha on some famous websites, I attached the result at this post.

We can see Microsoft, Apple, Wikipedia, Yahoo!, Facebook use them with a button to listen to the code orally. It certainly exists an addon with reCaptcha for vBulletin for the signup process.
Also, I found the solution of SunBlog is quite interesting and pretty easy for lambda users, but maybe less efficient against bots.

I didn't remember if we have to activate our account by email after the subscription on this forum. It would be a good idea to activate it if it's not the case.
