Some Info on the Injunction: Demonbuddy Downtime

Stickied! Will update as soon as new info is released! Bosslands Original Thread

The bot is back online for all non-German customers. The injunction is still in affect and there is a court hearing to take place in the future regarding Demonbuddy.

Seeing some of the people on the forums post some outrageous comments and ideals about the current state of Demonbuddy id like to express some things. I will also be updating this to reflect the updates to the Injunction.

? All bot sales and activity have been stopped because of an Blizzard filing an Injunction! (Legal way of making a group stop doing something) If Bossland were to go against this he has to pay 250,000.

? Your accounts aren't compromised. Blizzard has not received any clues, hints, or data towards who is botting from any of this. Put away the tinfoil hats, I swear my years of excellent Honorbuddy service on it.

? There is no set date for anything, and Bossland is spending some time to go over this with his lawyers for the best course of action. Nothing is set in stone. (See Updates Below)

? WoW is completely unrelated to this. There is another legal dispute going on with Honorbuddy which is completely unrelated. No Blizzard product is compromised.

? German law and US law are completely different in regards to this, neither bots are going down without a fight. They don't follow the same route as Glider and friends.

? In any situation you will be compensated fairly for the events that have occurred. Sessions and Time will be doubled when this clears up, and people will be able to refund if they truly wish so. You may contact Bossland for refunds. DO NOT contact him for questions answered on the forums.

? Demonbuddy is still being developed, and they hope to be back in less than a week (Hawker)

? German customers will be unable to buy, download, or login to the DB being released soon until the injunction has been settled in the court hearing, which could take a bit. You are free to get a refund as described above, however you may wait until after the court hearing to obtain the double-sessions. They are applying an IP Blocker to filter out German IPs.

You may choose to stick with the buddy team through this, or you may leave. Ones who stay get the benefits, but they won't stop you. I'm just trying to say that you're perfectly safe, and existing customers shouldn't worry in the slightest for the time being. Good luck everyone, especially the Buddy Team! :D

Update #1: June 20th, 2012: We Object!
################################################
Update 20th June 2012 12:03 GMT

We lodged an objection against the interim injunction the other day.

Today it arrived in the LG Hamburg and will be forwarded to the appeal chamber.

In the next days we should have a date for the court hearing.

################################################

Update #2: Bossland made a thread expressing his current situation and the types of requests he is getting.
If you are doubtful of what has happened to your money, or why your email isn't replied, it is because Bossland is answering to all of the other emails.
Please show understanding and know he will comply completely with your refund requests, unless you're a douche about it.

Update #3:
2 days have gone by and Bossland decided with his lawyers only non-german consumers can use DB.
The thread title claims DB will be online in about 12 hours. (Posted 12:45 Site Time)
We are working on a Geo IP Solution, based on countries. We will use a paid solution for that, to guarantee that:

Only our customers from outside of Germany will have access to Download Demonbuddy
Only our customers from outside of Germany will be allowed to connect to the Authentication of Demonbuddy
Only our customers from outside of Germany will be allowed to connect to the Navigation of Demonbuddy

I am sorry for all Germans and people living in Germany, we must hold to that ruling until the hearing.

Sales will still be stopped till the ruling of the LG Hamburg. For everyone.

Demobuddy will be ready in few hours, once our system filters all the German IPs, we will give it a go. All of you asked for a refund, sorry!

Update #4: Relased for Non-Germans

Update #5:

Agreed. I'm actually impressed Blizzard had to go this far to stop DB.

Is there a version of DB that still works and is safe?

The bot would shutoff if it detected any funny business from the warden.

No the pathing isnt local so it would require them to let you connect to the nav server to use it which may violate the injunction. Kind of ironic the day they would of released the local nav version blizzard does this.

all the nav servers are down, so no version of DB works.

But completely agree with you liferose

Oh well. At least the part about it being safe is still true.

We don't really know how far Blizzard actually has gone. Based on information from some other threads, Blizzard's case may not be as legitimate as it seems and may be dismissed when it reaches a higher court. I don't know much about these things, but it wouldn't surprise me if Blizzard is just using their funds to create some fuss with the German courts to make trouble for the buddy team. They may not have a real case, but in the end it's going to hurt Blizzard a lot less than the trouble caused for DB.
In the meantime, I'm probably going to use Hellbudy for a bit despite the increased risk, but I see no reason at all to ask for a refund from DB. The staff have been very open about everything and I have no doubt that they will compensate everyone fairly no matter how the court case turns out.

In my opinion (i am no lawyer) Blizzard will go with a sneek attack like some copy-write crap or something similar. They for sure can not stop bot from selling purely on a fact that you can use it to get unfair advantage in game.

Only thing that worries me is that they manage it from selling/distributing. This doesn't just happen and Blizz lawyer must have some solid grounds to do this kind of temp ban.

And again it goes to show how desperate Blizzard is!

Thanks Demon Buddy Team GO GERMANY!
I never regreated coming into this wonderufl community...the Admins replies to you and very helpful really wish them to win the case :)

I'm pretty sure the lawsuit is over the program injecting into the D3 process/memory.

In a business sense, why would the Dev team keep putting 100% effort into improving the bot if the outcome of the court case at the end is "no more sales and it's final" ?

You guys are great, I love how you inform and update your customers. Blizzard could learn something from you.... god damn patch loop

no dont use HellBuddy! i think they risk is too high. they were already hit with one fairly large banwave and admins over there were very unhelpful and desipite the massive ban wave all they had to say was that their bot was "not detected"...

they are fools and simply in it for the money not the community, stick with DB and be Buddies for life! :P

Also, I don't think I trust Rainbowdash after I saw him in Super Monday Night Combat just blatantly hacking and getting banned over and over (i personally helped SS and ban one of his accounts after i saw him using a no scope aimbot with no recoil and not even trying to hide it).

nice post mate, i have to agree with everything you said ;)

yes they may try to say copywrite ie: cause bot is reading and editing memory, but the facts still remain that the bot can be offered for educational purposes and if i install something on my computer in 0's and 1's who is to say i cant do what i want to it if i purchase the original game? touchy laws. they need a great intellectual property lawyer on the team it seems...

I still think a move to SEALAND would be a option... or move the entire cooperation to the darkweb and operate outa panarama.... ^_^ hehehe

Blizzard has enough problems themselves, they probably aren't just trying to make a fuss. There really is no increased risk though, Blizzard will not gain the rights to the information of the people who purchased the bot, and if they had some way of detecting the bot they would have banned users in older waves. I trust the buddy team in the security department completely. There hasn't been a Honorbuddy banwave in the years, people may have been banned in groups, but surely they haven't found a real way to confirm it on people besides manual reports and statistics.

Blizzard isn't beefing up any of the Wardens scanning or anything like that. They're simply targeting a bot legally, they probably won't get anywhere without massive warden change. (Which Honorbuddy/Demonbuddy would stop w/tripwire)

but how can blizzard own memory that exists on your computer???
they cant!!

one can read and write memoery in there own computer anytime they want wouldnt you think?
its me that owns my cmputer and RAM not blizzard.....
Once i purchase the game and install it , then i OWN the 0's and 1's .....
i would imagine anyway... its not like we didnt pay for the game...

One would think. However things aren't quite that simple. That is why things get complicated, and why people hate lawyers. It's Blizzards intellectual property, and you acknowledged it with or without your knowing by hitting those accept buttons when you logged in. That's a very complex response but rest assured if it was that simple the buddy team would have won by now.

Well what the buddy team is fighting for is that when you buy the game "like in stores" there is no TOS on the package, so no one knows they have to agree with something when they buy it.

Or with the annual pass *cough*

blizzard legal department is just a bunch of morons last year they sued the game developers called wargaming.net for naming their game series world of tanks, world of warplanes and world of warships.
they owned the words "world of" apparently..... lol how crazy is that?
needless to sat they lost since the games has absolutely nothing to do with world of warcraft or any other blizz games....

point is that their lawyers are very agressive and they will sue you if possible no matter if they might win or not.
