So i was thinking, how do we make money after the auction houses get shut down ?
Early days of ladder reset we id everything (sell unids after prices stabilize) and sell on d2jsp/loot hunter for gold, then sell gold via playerauctions.com ? What other service do we use to sell gold besides playerauctions.com that will guarantee us money delivery ? I dont like the idea of selling items for money via forums and receiving money via paypal, just to have the transaction chargebacked. So imo, sell items for gold to players, and sell that gold via some 3rd party website that guarantee a safe transaction.

What will you do ? Share some thoughts here, and lets get ready for some serious money making after expansion comes out :D

edit: I heard something about selling gold via ebay, but using some german version of the web site, coz back in the days when i first tried it, i had some issues with it and received email from some moderators regarding their policy against selling intangible goods online.

I think you nailed it for the time beaing, i was thinking about doing exactly same thing. Doubt if anyone can come up with better ideas till we get more ifno regarding loot 2.0 and xpac. Good thing is however, that loot 2.0 and removal of Ah will came before xpac, so we will have a chance to practice earning money in changed conditions before srs shit begins.

Problem is, i see some posts of gold being worthless and players trading uber items for uber items only. Can this actually happen ?

maybe yes, maybe no.

we had this crap situation with Diablo 2...

Trading @ JSP, getting angry about scammers,
lurking around in stupid trade channels (sometimes too empty, sometimes too full),
stressed out debating with other players about the price
trying to sell at ebay and other sites

If gold looses its worth, there are only 2 things left:
a) perfect item rolls. like you had once per month with 20+ bots
b) something like "runes" that can be stashed and drop rarely (jah/ber/...^^)

Well, chinese are still buying d2 gold so it has to have some worth even after all this years, i suppose we will just have to adjust the price of items being sold. Or perhaps new currency will emerge (like gems of some kind), i dont think ppl will resort to barter because it is extreemly inconvenient.

somebody from this community will have a website - please keep me in mind when you do - ill have only 15bots but every little bit helps :)

Oh guys i jsut remembered, gold will actually rise in prize after expansion coz of the re-roll affix feature, where we will be able to re-roll single affix on our weapon over and over again for constantly increasing gold prize.
MONEY HERE I COME !

What are you referring to?

They are introducing the mystic, a npc which will have the ability to re-roll a single affix on our items for a gold fee which will increase exponentially after multiple attemtps. i.e. If you have a weapon with cd socket str dex and you are playing a monk you can keep rerolling that str till you get something useful, be it dex, ls or attack speed. I just hope they make the gold price high enough to make gold actually worth it.

Theres also transmogrification mechanism getting implemented in xpac, which could work as another wonderful gold sink. Only, frankly speaking i doubt if blizzard cares at this moment for creating any gold sinks, im afraid that they consider gold inflation "solved" by elimination of GAH, letting players to sort out the rest...

I use to sell gold on d3 jsp and trading when the first game came out, if you're reputable and be careful I've never gotten scammed except the first two times I got scammed(14 successful trades after that with real-money transactions). But yeah, for the time-being I think you've nailed it, whichever trading site you'll use, if you're reputable and got connections i think you'll be fine.

LOL they are already planning on adjusting gold prices for things like repair and crafting... gem requirements for crafting... so you can play everything 'self found'. maybe they will reduce the gem requirement to only 2 per level up... and crafting item you can do mutliple just using the gold you get from one or two nephalim trials... face it guys the money train is over.

Well, untill they make all items bind on picked up, theres still possibility to sell them for real money through third party sites. I agree however this cannot be compared to just putting stuff on RMAH and awaitning transfer to paypal from blizzard.

Seems to me that the money train is NOT over, just a lot more work into getting it? Using the right 3rd party sites and good connections it might actually be very profitable without the endless supply the AH grants? Then again, the demand might tank aswell considering how a lot of people might not care for buying stuff from 3rd partys.
