I have a Dell Inspiron One 2305. It has an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 video card. I've updated all the drivers that it's calling for, but even after a total wipe and re-install of the OS, when playing WoW the display will freeze, then crash, then pop an error message saying it's recovered from a crash. I've looked on the net and this is a common issue, but I have yet to find a solution that fits me.

I can't buy a new video card because, well basically, I'm poor. I live on a fixed income that doesn't allow for such purchases. I owe the thanks to my numerous disabilities that keep me from holding a real job, making even half decent money. Anyway, as I said, I can't buy a new computer, nor a new video card, nor can I afford to go to a computer tech. I've checked around, and the cheapest within a comfortable range of me is still almost $200 USD to diagnose. Not diagnose and fix, but just diagnose.

Some days the crashes won't happen at all, peroid. WoW runs perfectly and I play for hours on end, as happy as a lark. Other days, like today, it was literally crashing approximately every 1.5 to 4 minutes. I couldn't run dungeons, I couldn't walk in towns, I couldn't do a single thing. As soon as I moved the mouse cursor, the display would crash while WoW was running in the foreground. If I opened a website and had it on top and let the bot do all the work, then it wouldn't crash one bit, but as soon as WoW came to the top, and I was looking at it, it would start crashing and recovering.

I've updated my BIOS, my chipset, and also all my display drivers for my video card, and drivers for my HD monitor. Everything is in order, and I've run several diagnostics from Dell, from AMD, and some outside sources. Everything says that my drivers are up to date, installed correctly, and working properly.

i have a problem with this to i update to version 12.6 and its stil 12.4 im going over to nvidia if this keeps happning but im not crashing.

Checked the tempetures? Are you sitting in the same position when the crashes happen (eg a bed?)

Else, the more likely issue is software related. Is it Windows 7? Could try doing a scan with Malware Bytes to rule out any possibility of a virus.

I would also recommend reinstalling the video drivers. I also had problems with the 12.6 drivers so I installed the 12.7 beta and I don't seem to have as many issues.

Lastly, check on your OS for programs that are not needed and disable them, it may or may not help:)
