The 4th version of Sharp Messenger arrived... and awaits approval in the Buddy Store! Google stopped supporting XMPP and that’s why we now use a public Jabber server for exchanging messages in the current version. What changes now for you?
  • You have to register at least two accounts @ 404.city.
  • You have to re-configure Sharp Messenger (delete settings folder).
  • You don’t have to disable Hangouts!
  • You may have to switch your messenger application.
Please note that one Google Mail account is still needed for sending screen shots.

We currently support only 404.city Jabber provider and Google Mail as e-mail provider. You may choose to user other providers but you won’t get any kind of support from us when doing so.

Yeah, the first buddy store version is missing chat bot functionality. I will be implementing something else than AIML for the next version.

I'm using this plugin and I can say that's really useful.
Anyway I would like to know if you think to implement an Hangouts version, 'cause there are better iPhone apps for Hangouts rather than Google Talk.

Can you reply with this? Can I get a whisper or say, get it on google talk and reply with google talk through say or whisper?
 
Yes you can. It is two-way chat via Google Talk and much more than that (see yourself via trial).
You will also get status notifications, stuck notifications and everything can be pushed to your phone.
And you are able to send commands to Honorbuddy and for example shutdown your PC or stop/start HB.
 
having the non-store version (and no store code, probably since i bought it back in 2012)

I never really used the chat features, but i'd guess AIML is tough to get approval for, not being a standard c# library, and the AIML codebase is lengthy regex's and so on for the chat recognition/parsing elements.

SM does use XMPP/Jabber, which is google talk, not google hangouts. I can still use it, but, as mentioned, google hangouts is trying to emphasise Google+ and video chat (both terrible ideas), which means they're slowly disabling the chat features in Google Talk via XMPP, like federation, which is using the XMPP chat functions. Perhaps, If it were SIP, or something like microsoft lynx, there could be accomodations made with some of the SIP handshakes (tech stuff)

What might work is Slack, but it's another layer on top of XMPP's normal chat language, and i'm not sure of the security implications on Slack. The app is nice, as it uses JSON and what looks like bootstrap to make it all look pretty and pop into place. there's realtime chat, which works a lot like google talk on the gmail site, or like facebook messenger, and is designed to be a private hosted channel that anyone can join into if they get approval (and since its JSON, it's also easy to set up a chat bot as well to hook in as a bot using the API, similar to AIML)

i.e. the Slack API is JSON HTML, with a few "nice" things like Google talk used to have, i.e. thumbnails, audio, file attachments for uploading screens, that kind of thing

it would be possible to chain lots of conversations from many users on the same user channel, which is interesting, by running as a bot (irc bot)

Sharp Messenger is not able to connect to the Google Talk servers via port 5222.

- Could you please open the port (in your firewall) for outgoing connections and then retry?
- Are you using VPN?
- Could you please try "telnet xmpp.l.google.com 5222" on the command line and then send me the output?

Please additionally take down your attached log file from your previous post for security reasons.

I've tried the command telnet but it doesn't work , I also deactivated my firewall still nothing , do you have any program to forward a port?
 
You did not answer the VPN question and did not paste the telnet (enable it as described in Windows 7: Enabling Telnet Client - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki if necessery) output in here.

Additionally did you enable less secure apps on the Google web site as stated in the user guide?

What exactly would you like to forward and from which source to which target? You can do port forwarding with "putty" via SSH if you know how but currently I do not understand what you want to achieve.
 
Again. Answer all questions I ask. Not only questions you would like to answer.
Please disable "Sharp Messenger Lite" in the buddy store (not the HB application). Re-start HB and send me the log via private message (but answer all of my questions first) and copy&paste all the text from your command line session.
