Sharing Files

Ok bit off topic this but i can't get my head around it any help would be great

Me and my brother would like to share files he lives about 5 miles from me now what i would like to know how me and him could link pcs through 2 networks eg i connect to his pc and see what movies he has to watch and he can connect to mine and see what i have i am not sure its possible but it was worth a shot.

You could try setting up an ftp server on both ends and accessing the files that way.

Thats a start thanks anyone know of a software to install both ends that helps that.
