For other people that may be having this issue it for windows 7 or 10 it's caused by real-time scanning. (May be slightly different steps based on your software AVG,Norton, McAfee,Kaspersky,Trend Micro, or any I didnt name) Running McAfee Internet Security Suite, you will need to go into Virus and Spyware Protection->Real-time Scanning>Excluded Files and set HonorBuddy to be excluded from being scanned. It's preventing the file from being updated because it thinks it's spam-ware. Even bigger thanks to jimmy06 for helping me recover 2 documents that didnt copy over to my external HDD when wiping my system and doing a fresh install of Windows 10 from a usb. High 5 for being awesome.

make an exception for Honorbuddy.exe under the real time scanning just choose the exe. folder with browse do the same thing with your firewall for the launcher and the exe both as well fixes all problemsIm having a similar issue on a non genuine windows 7, is it just the application honorbuddy itself i need to exclude in my mccafe or more files?
