Selling star gems on AH

Has anyone had good luck on selling higher level star gems on the AH? I am wondering if it is worth the investment to buy the Designs and start making stars from all the gems that drop on Sarkoth.
 
Just my 2c. Buyin' the plans for Stars are ok. However it cost A LOT to upgrade from there... Emerald plans are around the 3-4m atm.
 
The competition is hard, and there's a bunch of idiots that don't do their math before producing awesome gems. And simply post at the lowest price.

Armor plans are a much better choice.

Stay the heck away from weapon plans.

Have to agree with Weapon Plans. Worse idea I've made with my BS was tryin' to make those awesome 1k Weapons. I'd suggest +6 prop Armor. I've made a few really good Chromatic pieces that have sold for 5m+.
 
As someone who spent around 8 million on weapon plans, and materials I would agree... I think out of like 50 6 +prop weapons I made one mediocre one. Maybe I had bad luck with weapons, but I bought a 6+ prop helm plan and the 10th one I made was fabulous.
 
i dont get how the topic got off so bad, he simply asked about gems not weapon and armor

He was asking about Gems yes. But he also asked if it was worth the investment. Those of us who have responded have responded in like to what we thought was worth the "investment". This is on topic...
 
I've thought about it, done a little math and you can usually come out ahead if you buy the right gems to craft it from, but in the end, its only by about 10k or so a gem after the 15% take. Nothing to make it worth your time.

They are related. One needs to consider all possible venues of profit.
Unless I'm reading too much into your reply, someone doesn't want their gold-making crafting strategies to be leaked out.
 
also with star gems i find they take a while to sell, i put one on cheap and it still took 4-5hours to sell. I guess there just isn't a lot of movement on the stars at the moment.

Where as selling the squares/flawless squares is almost instant
