Now, my antivirus just alerted me with HIGH threat that a file called scan.dll.new excisted in my world of warcraft folder, and was trying to steal information.

Classified as VIRUS, and severity high...

And that just makes me think, i have had the same antivirus/firewall ALL the time...
And just today it accidently found it?

I searched it and Blizz says that its their way to collect information about what kind of a system you got.

Is it possible that it all of the sudden tries to get MORE "information" about what you are running besides wow? that that is the reason that it reacted?

My biggest concern would be that it really is trying to get information about third party programs being active... ?

It does not gather information about 3rd party applications, at least this is the consensus from the bot community.

No. Kynox, Cypher, and I think Nesox as well all have proved that it ONLY looks at what it says it is.

Check one of their blogs for the write up (I forgot whose)
