Safest way to accomplish moderate gold income

I am looking to use a bot for personal gold income only. I want enough to be able to buy BOE epics, enchants, flasks, potions and 300 food, the reforge mount, stuff like that, for my main and possibly a couple alts.

- I am not looking to make real money.
- I am not looking to make millions of gold.
- I do not want to farm achievements, mounts, or pets for my main account.
- I do not want to use a bot to level alts for my main account.

So I'm looking for advice as to how I can do all this relatively safely. These are the steps I'm planning on taking, please advise where I should do otherwise:

- Creating a fresh email account for a fake identity
- Creating a fresh battle.net account for the same email
- Sending a recruit-a-friend invitation to the new account and gifting the new account the battle chest plus all expansions
- Only logging in to my bot account through use of a virtual private network. The battle.net account will be registered to the geographical location of the virtual private network.
- Making a new guild on my bot account. Inviting one of my alts on my main account to the same guild.
- Proceed to level my bot to 90 and grind herbs/ore. I plan to buy some BOEs, do some heroics, get up to LFR quality gear and then mostly just farm herbs and ore.
- Deposit gold and farming mats in the guild bank.
- At this point I might slowly funnel gold to my main account using gbank withdrawals.

I don't care if the bot account gets banned at some point, I just want to avoid getting the main account banned.

I also wonder if the virtual private network is worth it since the WoW client running from the same physical machine. If Blizzard collects any information like computer name, etc., it's easy to see it's the same computer which would just look more suspicious.

Sounds safe, but if you want to be even safer, I'd suggest buying your own auction. 5% loss but should be safer.

use virtualbox and change your mac adress and it could be someone in your family farming 16 hrs per day :)

Isn't it easy to detect the a virtualized environment? I would think that only botters play on VMs and Warden can probably detect VirtualBox/HyperV/VMware.

What's an easy way to do the auction house thing? Put things up for ridiculous prices on my main, and have my alt buy them?

first question: I don't think it matter, I've been doing on two different computer same IP since like tbc and I've never had a ban, maxx was 3 hours suspension.
second question: yes, I ask my private buyers to buy a green item and put for the gold price, could be transmog

Alright I think I will use VirtualBox with a different MAC ID then.

Will I have any problems if I play my main account from one instance of WoW on my main OS, and run HonorBuddy on my VirtualBox OS at the same time?

I can't think it would matter. In most cases you can get your account unbanned after the first ban anyway, atleast from what I've read.
If they find you it'd be because hb is detected, if you're just botting one acc and doing it safely. I think!
I don't have anything to back up anything I say ;)

That is pretty much what I do and have done since Lich.
I don't run my bot on a virtual machine, but from the same box I play my main. I do however trade/mail gold/herb/ore/items over to my main, but not always to the same character.

  • Computer wise the only thing I have done is copy over my WOW folders to a different hard drive (my SSD's are small and wont hold more than one WOW), remove all wow addons and launch from the wow.exe not the launcher to run my bot.
  • I have my bot in the same guild as my main and have made the majority of the guild believe that it is my "shy" daughter/son/wife playing and collecting herb/ore and what not for me. I go by the hide in a crowd versus hiding in an empty guild with only a few alts method.
  • I also, when in a humorous mood, will hold in guild chat conversations back and forth with the bot and my main. I have even had a few guildies answer and reply to the bot. The GM and most of the officers know about the bot and don't really care about it either way. It helps that any herb/ore/profession item we need for the guild is also "donated" to the guild bank via my bot.

Things I don't do...BG's, Instabuddy or sell gold. Not these are bad things, I just don't partake in them cause they hold no worth to me.

Hope that helps and sorry for the long windedness...

Do you use the same WoW account, or the same Battle.net account for you bot? If so, do you play both accounts at the same time?

I used a different WOW account and battle.net account, I made a new email account and attached the bot battle.net to it. My name is the same on both main and bot, but my main account is paid for with a credit card and the bot account is paid for with 60-Days Pre-Paid Game Card. Which I have been purchasing from Offgamers.com. The persona is that the "bot" is a family member...don't know if it helps me to not get caught but it sure is fun sometimes messing with the guildies.

Been running this way for a long time...I started in Lich...I'm not super rich in game but I make enough to keep my main in the gear I want and don't have to worry about farming ore/herb/leather or needing flasks/pots/food/whatever else for raids.

how does the AH bot work exactly?

I haven't mentioned anything about an AHBot in this thread, I assume you're refering to buying auction.

Main account put a green item on AH for, lets say 100k gold
Bot account buys it
Main accounts receives 95k

I farm ore/herb maybe once a week and the rest of the time i bot for dailys or leveling a character
Make most of my money by selling shoulder enchants and gems (including primal diamonds)
Use AH during peek hours and use auctionator (great add-on)
Made about 200k since i started in October
