Anyone tried this before ? I'm playing WoW on ubuntu and its running alot smoother. I only have windows for WoW and use ubuntu for everything else so would like to delete the dual-boot. If anyone has tried it and it works post and let me know :D

I tried really hard to get wow to work on ubuntu(hate windows)but my lack of knowledge in it didnt let that happen. How did you get yours to work?

Well running WoW in Ubuntu 9.04 (like ~2 yrs ago- think it's the same now) was as simple as installing Wine (sudo apt-get install Wine) and running Wow.exe. Tho never could get installer to work, had to copy the Windows installation of WoW to Wine's C: disk. Remember failing to run glider on it tho (lol maybe it was more than 2 years then :) not sure Wine can provide .net framework components
bottom line: Wow can work just fine, GB prolly won't

it's not possible duo no support for dot net 3

you can try some products to emulate .net3 on ubuntu

Ok this Mono thingie got me interested... After looking at it I realised it's .net framework for LINUX, meaning it installs .net components to Linux OS and running .net app in Wine sandbox won't make Wine call Mono in Linux...
Untill I saw that there's Mono installation for Windows! That looked kinda dumb to me at first, then I realised: install Windows version of Mono with Wine!!! Lurked some Ubuntu forums a bit and I think it should work, don't have any Linux CD on me atm nor do I feel like installing any in order to test this but I think it could work, so:

1) Install Wine
2) Dload Windows version of Mono
3) Install Windows Mono using Wine
4) Laugh diabolically

Not guaranteeing anything, but this at least sounds like it could work, someone should test it.

Think i will try this when i get ubuntu up and running again.

i need to remind you all, that running Buddy Products on Operating Systems other then Windows, may give undesirable results. who knows what might, and might not work.

I installed Ubuntu 10.10 yesterday, installed WoW and I'm playing at the time of typing this..
Easy;
1. Install Wine and configure it
2. Go to wow-europe/worldofwarcraft.com
3. Download the install tool for WoW
4. Right click the icon after downloading, click properties, then go to the rights section and mark it as "allow to run as program" or whatever it says. (I have the Norwegian version of Ubuntu.)
5. Double click the icon, install WoW to the default location.
6. Play

On topic: I also have Mono installed as default in the new version of Ubuntu, and I can confirm that running GB/HB is NOT possible.

I run WoW in Linux on both an Arch system and an Ubuntu 10.10 system. I'll test botting today as I'm home early from work, and report back any progress. Obviously Mono will required.

GOOD NEWS, the GB exe starts up after a bunch of mono and .net crap under wine and then crashed. I'm going to try and go through debugs tomorrow and see what happened. I guess that it will not work still but its progress. I'll get a list of wine config changes and windows files I added later this weekend.

.net 3+ requirements are doable under linux with wine it's just very unstable and I guess not really working properly. so I doubt this is fixable until a later addition is made to porting/configuration for .net under wine.
