I was dead against the BuddyStore when it 1st launched and I still have my reservations, but I've purchased several profiles and botbases, some of which have exceeded my expectations others have sorely failed to meet my expectations.

I'd like to see a 5 star rating system from confirmed purchasers of Buddystore products of what they think of what they've paid for.

I see increasing numbers of posts asking for opinions on "what is the best profile for x or y" so why not have it built in? Let the cream rise to the top.

I can't see any valid reason not to have this system in place.

EDIT: Please don't get this thread locked by discussing the pros and cons of the Buddystore itself, just please post your opinions about the merits of a voting system for published profiles.

EDIT2: Namednoob also makes a good point: "And honestly just a star rating system is not enough we need it along with a review where users can drop some input about it and why they rated it as such"

I was surprised that Bossland didn't implement it already. It's just so obvious!

I think its a great idea, I was also suggesting making sure some of the developers test the items before they are aloud to be placed for sale in Buddystore, there are a few items for sale there thats are so broken!

Well theoretically it's up to the HB team to test before they approve them. But I agree that some are too "beta" to be released as full commercial products.

Man, its AWESOME idea. Cause there alot of sh`tty projects, and lots of great and awesomes. Need otptions to sort that.

Agreement with everyone else, several things I purchased I had to refund because they were not nearly a finished product and if they ever do get finished I cant purchase because I asked for said refund (I know you can request to purchase again but think it's not really my fault the project seemed like a smash and grab quick buck)

I don't see your point, private paid routines existed before the BuddyStore came in, which to my understanding is just a way to make it easier for people to buy verified and virus free stuff from developers and guarantee their money as most of the stuff for sell have a trial period and you can request a refund on top of it.

And honestly just a star rating system is not enough we need it along with a review where users can drop some input about it and why they rated it as such.

While I do agree with the feature you propose your cause just doesn't make sense.

That's half the point, they might be "verified" but some of them aren't "as advertised". And yes you can trial them. But I'd like to see user input as well. Requesting a refund is hassle. I'd rather know I was buying something quality before I bought it.

And honestly just a star rating system is not enough we need it along with a review where users can drop some input about it and why they rated it as such.

Well a feedback system would be good also, but the problem from my pov is inconsistency. Some profiles have a discussion thread from which you can get a good idea of the quality of the profile, others do not. others are mainly just full of bug reports rather than opinions, so hard to gaugue. Overall a scoring system along with related comments might indeed be best.

EDIT: I'll put your comment about related comments in 1st post, it's well made.

Yeah.

Personally, I'm fond of the Ebay rating system where you can rate someone positive, negative or neutral--AND you can leave a brief (80 characters) review.

Not to mention not all users frequent the forum but nearly all users use the buddystore now, and while they might not be here in the forums, they might drop a review there which can be a lot more significant than the created threads itself.

People might write in-depth reviews while other will just say "awesome", "whatever" but if some one did not appreciate something they will very likely comment at to vent out and if some one found something awesome they will as well most likely give a better comment.

AND you can leave a brief (80 characters) review.
rather than limiting it, just make a simple CSS to show more or show less as I don't think you can give a good review with only 80 characters.

I would say something more towards what amazon does for reviews would be ideal and with a chance for the developer to reply to that specific review, like amazon does.

I think this is a great idea, either way people leave comments on forums about products which people review, why not have it in one place? not only that a good 5 rated profile will only increase sales as some people may be initially skeptical

Good idea and should be in fact implemented as soon as possible. It will create a competition and thus creating more affordable prices for us to pay for the products.

Hmm 93% agree atm, any more thoughts? Any response from the HB team?

Have to wonder who would vote no in this poll.
fans brigading the voting system to upvote or mass ban a store item,

Store brigading from a competing forum /community, trying to ban all items as a protest against the entire community, etc.

Developers who don't really want people to engage with the store as an online store, but as a resource. Or, as a way to proceed indirectly to providing a range of good quality and mixed quality options without having to justify or answer services or requests.

Yes,

Buyers should be able to make positive feedback to help other buyers make sensitive or sensible judgement on purchases over 5€.

Under 5€, I'd be willing to deal with caveat emptor, ie "yer fudged" when the store floods with casual profiles or plugins without the need for a service contract, as well as free store items.

For items over 5€, a service contract would protect against casual or overworked developers selling a product without the service obligations expected from other developers.

This way, complaints and services can be moved from the store, to a separate logging or bug report system for developing / service resolution. I see that a few are using Trello as a mixed update / bug report support, which is probably a great idea for higher end store items once purchased.

if there's no usable refund system to punish developers that take advantage of the store infrastructure to rort customers and not provide agreed levels of support or agreed timely responses under the SLA policy,

A service contract should be part of the contract for store provision,if it is not already part of the system.

idk. The current store is both blessing and cursed by the difficulty of providing services rather than only software.

I will put more on here but yes the agreement we have to sign does have a service contract sectuon that does spell out our timeline of required service per product....

Got alot of thoughts on this but on phone atm. Will put them up here once I get home from work.

Have a couple of minutes here putting kids down. But I like the idea of a voting system and comment system. But within certain guidelines.

1) 1 "star" vote per key that purchased said content.
2) 140 character limit (same as twitter)
3) ability to change "star" vote at any time while product is owned.
4) ability to change comment while product is owned.
5) a **** next to the name if user refunded or something
6) anon users to protect peoples identitys. Hey if im now allowed to know who purchased the general public sure as junk shouldnt.
7) a developer should be allowed a comment inside of a comment to adress any constructive or negative review

I have seen peoplr go from 5bar contributer level to 1 bar because of 1 pissed off person with a bunch of forum accounts.

Doing these simple things would allow us to both give the users a way of feed back and new users abilty to get the jist of how current people feel about the profile.

And getting public feed back is a big kudos to us who put stupid ammounts of time into profiles. I know it drives me daily at least

Hi, all,

This is HB-1064 ("Testimonial / Rating option for store?"). But, there are more pressing issues that must be addressed by the limited time of the senior development staff first.

Closing thread since we already have plans for the concern.

cheers,
chinajade
